
Time to head “under the sea” as Disney is dishing out a first look at its newest stage show featuring the beloved animated Disney film, The Little Mermaid (1989).
While crowds are bustling at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort, we have yet to receive an update on what may come of the stage show, “Voyage of the Little Mermaid“. As the attraction building remains quiet for now and is noted as “Temporarily Closed”, Disney is showing its love for The Little Mermaid with a new show coming to the big blue.
As Disney Wish prepares for its maiden voyage which was delayed until July 14, 2022, from its previous June 9 schedule, we are learning more about the ins and outs of the new Disney Cruise Line ship.
The Disney Wish will host paramount dining experiences, new at-sea water attractions, and modernized yet stunning staterooms, but the entertainment is especially said to be a show stopper!
While Disney Cruise Line’s fleet, including the Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wonder, have fantastic stage shows, Disney is stepping up its performance on the Disney Wish as it prepares to welcome “Disney The Little Mermaid”.
Now, Disney Parks is providing a first look with new details and concept art for the Broadway-style show.
Disney has announced, “In this modern-day retelling, audiences will rediscover the iconic scenes, acclaimed music and beloved characters of the film, as a cast of contemporary storytellers put their own spin on the timeless tale.”
“Disney The Little Mermaid” will feature innovative theatrical design, dazzling special effects, artistic choreography, and a reimagined script and score that will surprise and delight guests of all ages.”

In the photo above, you’ll see this scene features the production number “Under the Sea”. It will be the show’s biggest scene with special effects and unique puppetry. Can you spot Sebastian and Flounder?

You can expect state-of-the-art video projections to make the Walt Disney Theatre feel like it is a 360-degree undersea environment. Plus, of course, “Kiss the Girl” will be a memorable scene with Sebastian, Flounder, Prince Eric, and Ariel all spotted in the photo above.
