Two Maps You Need to Help Plan Your Disney World Trip

It’s no secret that Disney World can be overwhelming, between the crowds, the heat, and just the sheer size of the entire Resort. For those that are first-timers or even those that have been 10 times, it can be confusing figuring out how to get from point A to point B.

One of the most time-consuming aspects of planning your next trip to Disney World is determining what hotel to stay in. Not only do you have to consider price, but amenities, perks and offers, and of course, location. But in a 25,000 acre premises, you really have to determine what your priorities are when you’re visiting, and what you want to be close to.

There’s an intricate system of busses, trams, monorails, and even the new Skyliner to get where you need to go while visiting Walt Disney World. Even though there is a solid transportation network,  the different vehicles stop at different places and do not necessarily connect with all of the parks and hotels.

When choosing a hotel, some people may prefer to stay somewhere within a close walking distance to a particular park if that’s their priority or may want to make sure the Skyliner stops there if they prefer to travel by cable car everywhere. Either way, it’s good to first determine your priorities and secondly, choose your hotel accordingly.

This Disney World Transportation Map created by Arthur DeWolf gives you a great overview to understand where certain hotels are, what transportation links exist there, and how to get to the different parks or districts from those hotels. While this map is 9 years old, it’s still incredibly helpful and accurate in trying to look at where the trams, the busses, and the Monorail go.

A second map that is helpful and brings the entire Walt Disney World Resort complex to life, is this map, created by Disney. This Walt Disney World Map gives Park-goers a better overview of park landmarks and proximities. Although you cannot see transportation links too well on this map, it’s great for looking at a wider variety of hotel locations, districts, and the Parks, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and the Disney World water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

These two maps will truly make your hotel and Park planning experience a little easier! If you are curious about the Skyliner connection locations, you can check out this Skyliner Map below since the Skyliner did not exist 9 years ago when the Disney World Transportation Map was created.

Happy planning!
