Why You Should Stay at a Disney World Skyliner Resort

Walt Disney World’s newest mode of transportation is the Disney skyliner.  This new mode opened on September 29th, 2019 and it has become extremely popular as it moves guests high over Disney property.  One of the best ways to experience the Disney skyliner is by staying at one of the Disney resorts that offer skyliner access.  These resorts are Disney’s Pop Century, Disney’s Art of Animation, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort as well as Disney’s Riviera Resort.  No matter what level of resort accommodations you are looking for, a Disney skyliner resort is an excellent choice.  We have why we think you should stay at a Disney skyliner resort during your next Disney vacation.

Easy Transportation To Theme Park

One of the main reasons why we would recommend staying at a Disney skyliner resort is because of the easy access to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  The Disney skyliner provides access to both of these theme parks each day.  With a transportation time that is under ten minutes, this is a fantastic option when it comes to getting to the theme park quickly.  Even if you come across a long line, typically in the mornings as theme park open, or evenings when EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are closing, the Disney skyliner still moves quickly.  Because it constantly loads Guests into the gondola, it gets everyone on quickly and to where they want to go.  Knowing that you have less than a ten minute ride to the EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well as constant movement, this makes a skyliner resort a huge advantage over those that might only offer bus transportation.

Access to EPCOT’s International Gateway

As we mentioned before, the Disney skyliner provides quick access to EPCOT, specifically EPCOT’s International Gateway.  This entrance is located in the World Showcase area between France and the United Kingdom Pavilions.  This can be extremely helpful if you are wanting to skip out on the current contraction seen in Future World or if you are heading to a festival.  By taking the Disney skyliner, you have quick access to the countries throughout EPCOT World Showcase making it easy to jump right in for a meal, snack or an evening at a festival.  This location is absolutely perfect for when Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opens on October 1st to Guests.  The International Gateway is right next to France and the new ride!

Excellent Dining Options

Another excellent reason to stay at a skyliner resort during your next Disney vacation is because it gives you access to multiple dining experiences.  It doesn’t matter if you are looking for a quick meal or a signature experience, by being on the Disney skyliner you have the chance to eat at all of them.  For a fantastic food court option, head to Pop Century and Disney’s Art of Animation.    Both of these resorts have outstanding food courts with a variety of food choices for the whole family.  At Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, you can enjoy some amazing appetizers at Banana Cabana, the welcoming pool bar.  Finally, if you are wanting a character meal or a signature evening meal, you can go to Disney’s Riviera Resort and head to Topolino’s Terrace.  In the morning at Disney’s Riviera Resort, you can enjoy seeing Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy in their artistic costumes and they dance around and entertain Guests.  In the evening, Topolino’s Terrace offers a high end meal with outstanding entrees and beautiful views of Disney.  By staying on the skyliner, you can truly experience a variety of different dining locations in just a few minutes.  This is huge as sometimes travel between resorts can take hours, but not when you are staying on the Disney skyliner.  If you are looking for something fun to do, check out ideas for the skyliner dessert crawl idea.

Access To Entertainment

Not only does staying at a skyliner resort give you access to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well as dining options at different resorts, but it also gives you access to the entertainment at the different resorts.  You are welcome to head to Disney’s Caribbean Beach and enjoy the movie under the stars there or you could enjoy some painting or drawing at Pop Century.  With the skyliner you also have access to Disney’s Boardwalk which is starting to open back up with more entertainment for Guests.  All of these options add just a little bit more to your stay as you don’t feel like you are limited to just your resort.

Outstanding Views

When staying at one of the Disney skyliner resorts, you can enjoy so many outstanding views that you can’t see anywhere else.  One of the best views of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.  As you take off from the skyliner station, you are able to see all of the resorts which we love.  Seeing the beautiful colors, palm trees and pool area make us feel like we are on vacation.  As you take the skyliner into the EPCOT, you can get some sneak peeks of the World Showcase.  This was fun to watch as the France Pavilion started to expand and Remy’s was being constructed.  Another fun view we enjoy is as we come into the Pop Century and Art of Animation skyliner station.  We love being over the water of Hourglass Lake as we come into or leave this skyliner station.  It isn’t just the resort areas that we enjoy though.  We also like seeing the Walt Disney Property from up above.  It is exciting to see parts of the park in a way that we never have before.  Being able to take the skyliner to different parks and resorts really is a fantastic way to see parts of Disney World you typically wouldn’t.

The next time you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World, we highly recommend considering staying at one of the Disney skyliner resorts.  From Pop Century and Disney’s Art of Animation to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort, the ability to quickly get to and from both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well as the opportunity to have different food and entertainment options close by is a true strength of these skyliner resorts.  Have you stayed at one before?  What was your thought?

Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor.
