It is always bittersweet when fan-favorite experiences come to an end at a Disney Park, and this one is sure to sting. Two iconic Disney Parks performances, one long-standing parade and a relatively recent fireworks spectacular have been enjoyed by fans over the past year, but unfortunately the end is coming sooner than we expected.

Disney just confirmed that both the Main Street Electrical Parade and the Disneyland Forever fireworks spectacular at the Disneyland Resort will be ending their runs on September 1, 2022.

The Main Street Electrical Parade originally began in Disneyland Park in 1972 with versions of the parade coming and going at Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World, and even overseas Disney Parks over the years.

The latest version of the parade, which returned to Disneyland for a limited engagement in April 2022 features a new finale sequence that includes newer Disney movies including Encanto (2021), Coco (2017), Mulan (1998), Brave (2012), The Princess and the Frog (2009), Aladdin (1992), The Jungle Book (1967), and Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) in place of the original “To Honor America” float.

Disneyland Forever, the popular nighttime fireworks spectacular at Disneyland Park, began in 2015 during the 60th anniversary celebration of the Disneyland Resort. The show concluded its initial run at the end of the official celebration in 2016, returned in 2019 only to end when Disney Parks and Resorts closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and once again returned to the Park earlier this year.

This iconic fireworks show was also one of the first major fireworks productions at any Disney Park to seamlessly blend classic pyrotechnics with projection mapping, that in this case ran all the way down Main Street, U.S.A.

For Guests looking for nighttime entertainment, both World of Color in Disney California Adventure and Fantasmic! in Disneyland Park will continue with their normal schedules.

If you have an upcoming trip planned for the Disneyland Resort, be sure to make time to see both Disneyland Forever and the Main Street Electrical Parade. While both performances have returned after previous runs, we can never say for sure if or when they will be back, so we would see them before September 1, 2022 if you are able to.
