While the key remains a favorite among Disney fans, guests eager to experience the full effects of the Adventureland portion of the key will have to wait a little longer.

Adventureland Lock Temporarily Out of Service

Guests can still visit the Adventureland Bazaar and use the key at the register, where Cast Members can manually trigger the light feature. However, this alternative activation does not trigger the full effects of the lock, which normally include additional light and sound effects in the area.

Why the Temporary Disruption?

Disneyland has not disclosed the exact cause of the malfunction, but reassured visitors that it is a temporary issue. It’s unclear how long the malfunction will last, though Disney has stated that they are actively working to resolve it. The park is committed to restoring the full experience as soon as possible, with the interactive keys remaining a major part of Disneyland’s ongoing 70th anniversary celebrations.
