Figment is everyone’s favorite purple dragon! At Disney World, Guests can experience an attraction and meet and greet with the friendly dragon. Disney World offers four Parks with plenty of experiences for meet and greets with various characters and special attractions. Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT all have unique experiences for Guests of all ages.

At EPCOT, Guests can indulge in the World Showcase and experience the various pavilions as they walk around the world. Additionally, EPCOT is home to some of the most iconic rides offered at Disney World, like Soarin’ Around The World, Test Track, and Mission: Space. If that’s not enough, EPCOT recently released Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and even newer, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.

The everchanging Park was a concept Walt Disney created where the past, present, and future would come together. With that thought at the core of EPCOT, new attractions and experiences are often introduced, keeping the Park exciting. Most recently, at the largest fan event held, Destination D23, it was announced that Figment would be appearing in EPCOT in an entirely new way.

Figment The Friendly Dragon

The Figment meet and greet opened in September, and he premiered at the Destination D23 event. Now, Guests can meet the mischievous dragon in the Imagination! Pavilion. When the meet and greet opened on September 10, there was so much excitement around the new experience that Guests waited hours to hug their favorite character.

We even reported Figment’s excitement was so grand he took a fall when walking out to greet his eager fans. Thankfully, Figment was just fine, and the show is back up and running. However, his meet and greet is still a popular experience for Guests, another part of Imagation! Pavilion will be temporarily closed, which includes the purple dragon.

Disney World’s website lists that Journey Into Imagination With Figment will be temporarily closed.

Journey Into Imagination With Figment

EPCOT has posted that the attraction will be closed on October 10 but re-open on October 11. The attraction will be closed for routine maintenance, given its short closure. Thankfully, it is not permanent, as Guests are eager to meet Figment and explore the attraction.

One fan jokingly commented, “I hope this means they’re giving Figment a Halloween sweater.” As Scott Gustin noted, other areas of the Imagination! Pavilion will still be open during the closure. If you are visiting during this time, although it’s disappointing that the attraction will be closed down, it’s the perfect time to explore the new Figment merchandise offered at EPCOT.

Attraction closures are quite common in Disney Parks as they need routine maintenance due to the volume of Guests riding. It’s always a loved factor when Disney lets Guests know ahead of time when the closures will come, as they can plan their days accordingly if it falls during their trip.

Has your favorite attraction ever been closed during your visit to Disney World?
