Do You Have “Horrible Luck With Kids Getting Sick” at Disney World? You’re Not Alone!

Between Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT, Walt Disney World hosts a lot of Guests from many all over the world every single day.

With so many people crammed into these magical theme parks, touching the same merchandise and holding onto the same railings, it’s not hard to imagine catching a cold after visiting.

One Guest took to social media to vent and ask if their experiences at Walt Disney World Resort are common. Reddit user u/1988coPhotos writes,

Please tell me we aren’t the only family that goes through this. We’re currently on our 4th trip in 5 years […] We’ve cycled through a stomach bug this time, Covid last time, and the flu […] other times. I don’t fault the parks because theoretically anyone could get sick anywhere in public, but it seems like this is the only vacation spot where it happens. Idk, maybe I just need to vent, but it’s incredibly frustrating.

Immediately, other frequent Guests began responding.

One Guest introduced themselves as a medical professional and asked whether the original poster was from a different climate and if they were staying hydrated, as these things can cause a big difference in how we feel.

Another Guest replied, stating that they notice sick people inside the Parks a lot more in a post-COVID world. They describe coughing children, sneezing Cast Members working in food service, and even Guests who exit the bathroom without washing their hands!

But there’s no need to panic because there are easy measures to take to protect yourself when visiting Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and other Walt Disney World Resort properties.

To ensure your Disney vacation goes as smoothly as possible, follow these easy tips!

First and foremost, wash your hands as often as possible. Using hand sanitizer or cleansing hand wipes is another good way to ensure your hands are as clean as possible. After exiting a ride, before eating, and after browsing gift shops are some of the best times to cleanse your hands.

Using sunscreen and drinking water aren’t just tips to avoid feeling ill, they’re essential to staying healthy while visiting sunny Florida’s Walt Disney World.

Although we’re living in a post-mask-required world, it’s never a bad idea to wear a mask in crowded places. If you’re willing to wear a mask to Walt Disney World, it’s a super easy measure to take that can protect yourself and others from getting sick.
