Trash Cans and Bags Available to Motion Sick Guests at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened today at EPCOT, and midway through the ride’s first day of operation for Guests it seems those prone to motion sickness are feeling nauseous upon exiting the attraction.

The newest roller coaster at the Walt Disney World Resort, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has been praised for the smooth feeling of the ride vehicles moving along the track. It has not been all smooth sailing, however, for some Guests who are finding the ride’s thrills to be too much by the time they exit.

The attraction features the first reverse launch on a Disney roller coaster, and throughout the ride, the ride vehicles spin slightly and rotate as Guests travel through the galaxy. Early reports from those who had ridden the attraction during previews did warn others that if you are prone to motion sickness you may not have the best time on this ride, and this is indeed the case now that the coaster is open to the public.

While the ride vehicles do not have vomit bags in clear view (and easy reach) for Guests (like how the bags are set up on Mission: SPACE for instance, Cast Members at the exit of the attraction do have them available if needed.

Cast Members have also removed the tops off of the trash cans located in the ride’s exit path in case they are needed by motion sick Guests as they leave the Wonders of Xandar pavilion.

In the case of the only other Disney attraction to offer bags to Guests with Mission: SPACE, the ride was reconfigured early on to offer a less intense version of the experience. An alternate version of a full roller coaster is not a possibility, however, Disney may rework the ride similar to how DINOSAUR in Disney’s Animal Kingdom was updated toning down some of the ride’s thrill.

If you do make it to EPCOT to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, be sure to join the virtual queue or purchase an individual Lightning Lane pass for the ride, as no standby line is available at this time.

We will continue to monitor Guest reactions and any updates to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, and will be back with additional information as we have it.
