Are you gathering items for your Disney Park vacation? There are some must-have items to check off your list before you leave. These top ten items are the must-haves on my Disney packing list. Remember, failing to prepare means preparing to fail. Don’t forget these ten items when packing for your Disney vacation!
Rain Gear
Don’t let a damp Park day slow your family down. Pack a rain poncho and lightweight foldable rain jacket to ensure you can keep enduring through the rain. Packing your rain gear will save time and money when the showers start at Walt Disney World. The great news is Florida pop-up showers pass quickly. The sun will be out again before you know it!
Great Shoes and Sun Gear
It is no secret that a Disney vacation involves lots of walking. Packing comfortable shoes that support your feet and don’t rub or chafe is essential. Packing backup shoes to use in the case of wet or broken walking shoes is a great idea. Sunglasses and hats are another Park necessity without which you should not leave home.
You will want the shade of a hat during a hot Animal Kingdom Park day. Cooling towels are another great way to stay comfortable in the Parks. Sunglasses, hats, and shoes on the Walt Disney World Resort Property are unplanned purchases that add up and ruin your budget, so make sure you prepare by packing smart.
The intense central Florida sun is no joke! From pool time and Disney Springs shopping to alfresco dining and waiting in attraction lines, you will spend plenty of time in the sun on your vacation. Bring more sunscreen than you think you need.
Snacks & Drinks
Did you know you can bring snacks and drinks to Walt Disney World Parks? There’s no need to buy a soda in Animal Kingdom or buy an expensive snack during a Magic Kingdom Park day.
Packing food and drink with you takes some stress off your dining budget and allows you to spend more on the little extras like ice cream or Mickey cupcakes if you aren’t purchasing breakfast and all your snacks each day in the Park.
Themed Kid Surprises
Start the magic before you arrive at Walt Disney World by purchasing fun surprises for your little ones. Disney Princess merchandise, STAR WARS shirts, and Mickey Mouse plush can all be found at spots like Walmart, Amazon, Target, or even dollar and discount stores. You’ll still want to shop for souvenirs at Disney Springs on vacation. But it’s fun to prep. for your vacation by buying themed merchandise.
Small treats are just as fun for kids! Disney stickers, notepads, candy, plush toys, and small games are easily found at a dollar store and make great ride distractions for the long drive or flight to central Florida.
Pool Necessities
Remembering to pack any pool and Disney Water Park gear your family needs will save you serious money. Goggles, swim masks, water bomb toys, swim diapers, and swim floats are generally available at Disney Resorts but are cheaper when Guests remember to bring them from home.
Prescription Meds and First Aid Items
When someone in your family gets sick at Walt Disney World, you have no choice but to buy the needed medication. Packing a basic bag of medicines and a few first aid supplies will save you time and money at Disney World.
Hopefully, you don’t need anything in this kit, but better safe than sorry. Snag a waterproof makeup bag to make a small, lightweight medicine kit to take to the Parks. Don’t forget to bring any prescription medication your family members need.
Magic Band
Your Magic Band is the key to Disney magic. From entrance to the Parks and lightning lane (if you’ve added that option) to acting as your room key and credit card, you cannot forget your magic band. You can purchase themed magic bands with Disney characters from Shop Disney or Walt Disney World shops.
If you are looking to DIY your magic band, you have options. Decorating your magic band with temporary tattoos and sealing them with clear fingernail polish is another fun way for the family to prepare for a vacation and arrive on the Disney Property in style.
Family Shirts
Many families at Walt Disney World are now sporting family shirts. Screen print or embroidered shirts with funny quotes, names, or favorite characters can be seen across the Park. They make a fun family souvenir and look great in photos. Family shirts can be purchased on Etsy, Box Lunch Gifts, or Shop Disney if your family wants to make a fashion statement on vacation.

Camera & Extra Storage Card
A Disney vacation yields more magical moments than you could ever imagine. Photographing your travel crew with characters and getting that perfect Cinderella Castle photo means you will need a camera/cellphone camera with extra storage cards or space for photos.
Pack plenty of camera storage cards or free up cell phone storage space for photos and video to capture all these moments. Don’t run the risk of running out of storage before a fun ride or a silly character meal.
External Battery Pack
Speaking of cell phones, they are pivotal to having fun in Disney Park. Do not battle with a low cell phone battery at Disney World; pack a backup battery. You will want access to the My Disney Experience App to see Park maps, access Disney Genie, use Mobile Order, and browse your Photopass photos.
Packing a battery pack for your cell phone will ensure you have enough phone life to capture photos of the incredible Magic Kingdom fireworks at the end of the day. There are options of varying prices and sizes available to purchase at stores like Walmart or Target, as well as online options.
Pack these items and head to Disney Resort for the vacation of a lifetime!
