Disney Is Bringing Back Illuminating Pavement in a NEW Way!

It’s the small things at Disney that have always impressed us – from the small Hidden Mickey’s to the stunning secrets in the gorgeous decor and beyond. Well, Disney has now revealed they are bringing back a small but mighty memorable Park experience that literally sparkles!

EPCOT’s transformation from the former Future World and World Showcase to four new neighborhoods is well underway. Construction zones have paid off as Disney has unveiled Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in the World Discovery neighborhood, and insights into the incoming Journey of Water Inspired by Moana attraction in World Nature.

Now our focus shifts to World Celebration, the new neighborhood at the front of the Disney Park that holds the iconic Spaceship Earth attraction. Remember leaving EPCOT after a long day and seeing the pavement sparkle with little lights near Spaceship Earth? Well, Disney has promised its return!

Walt Disney World Imagineer, Zach Riddley, took to social media to share the exciting news:

“World Celebration will be a can’t-miss destination for evening activations at EPCOT. Designed with over 12,000 individually controllable lighting fixtures, the reimagined nighttime experiences in this new park neighborhood will create a dynamic environment that will transform the area every night.”

“We know our Guests loved the fiber optics embedded in the pavement at EPCOT, and we’re excited to share that we’re bringing back new illuminated paving designs in World Celebration. These features pay homage to EPCOT’s past while incorporating updated technology and controllability to deliver some fun new lighting capabilities.”

We’re thrilled that not only do we now get to see Spaceship Earth sparkle in a new way as a Beacon of Magic, but soon enough Disney will return the sparkles on the pavement in a whole new way which looks like it’ll be better than ever before.

Currently, Disney has yet to announce when the new illuminated paving designs will be ready for World Celebration. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the transformation will be as incredible as it looks in the art rendering!
