We previously shared the exciting news that Walt Disney World Resort appeared to have opened the sales for select Annual Passes this morning after a block was placed on purchasing them at the end of 2021. Now, the theme park has been quick to halt sales.
This morning eager Disney fans (Florida Resident and/or Disney Vacation Club Member) were able to purchase new sales of both the Disney Sorcerer Pass along with the Disney Pirate Pass. It looks like this was possibly an error on the Walt Disney World website as the excitement was short-lived with Annual Passes once again noted with “currently unavailable”.
@ScottGustin took to social media to note, “Annual Passes were listed for sale earlier this morning (for FL and DVC). This appears to have been an error. The passes are now listed as “currently unavailable.”
One of the comments to the tweet notes, “Called and was told it was put up for sale by error. Tried to purchase and was denied online. Glitch.”
Unfortunately, this Disney World Annual Pass mix-up isn’t the first time we’ve seen Disney seemingly having an issue with confusing reports. It wasn’t too long ago that Disney sold a number of MagicBand+ bands by mistake. Shortly after they went on sale, Disney quickly removed the bands from the store and was offering refunds.
Disney has also seen a recent hiccup in reservations with a Disney Cruise Line error. And we simply can’t forget the time Geoff Morrell, the former Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Disney, accidentally leaked the opening timeframe for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind… but quickly tried to remove it from social media. Unfortunately, screenshots never go away!
The Walt Disney Company is a massive one and human error is to be expected. It is however unfortunate when it happens in situations such as this Annual Pass purchase resuming and then pausing as Disney fans are eager to be able to purchase passes once again.
Hang in there, Disney fans! We’re hoping one of these days Guests will be able to purchase Annual Passes once again to enjoy a Disney Park as a Disney World Annual Passholder and even a Magic Key holder at Disneyland Resort.
