Is the Reopening of Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Delayed?

Things are getting back to normal at the Walt Disney World Resort, and we love to see it! This year marked the return of favorite seasonal events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, along with exciting news out of the 2022 D23 Expo.

One of the most beloved Walt Disney World experiences, that once took place most nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, has still not announced a reopening date. With the end of the year soon approaching, we have to wonder, is the reopening of Fantasmic! delayed?

Disney previously shared that Fantasmic! would open in 2022, with many fans (at least earlier in the year) speculating that the iconic nighttime spectacular would open by the end of the summer or at least in the fall. The official Walt Disney World website even notes that the show is returning in 2022.

A quick scroll through the hours calendar for the show on Disney’s website shows that no showtimes are scheduled for all upcoming dates, which run through December 2, 2022 (as of this writing). Of course, showtimes could always be added at a later date, but without any other updates from Disney on the show, it is possible that the show is simply not returning until at least mid-December (or perhaps even later.)

The company’s social media accounts began teasing the return of Fantasmic! earlier this year, by sharing videos of the show’s choreography, photo ops, and an update that rehearsals had begun for Cast Members. Still, we have not received an official update for a couple of months now, so it could be possible that the show’s return is delayed.

We certainly hope that the return of Fantasmic! is not delayed, but without an update from Disney, we cannot be sure when the show will return to the Hollywood Hills Amphitheatre.
