Disney Tips Your Guide To A Great Disney Vacation
While most signs of Walt Disney World Resort’s COVID closures are completely gone, there are a few lingering pieces of Disney’s pre-COVID days that are still missing, including the popular Fantasmic! nighttime experience.
Despite the return of fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park (Disney Enchantment) and EPCOT (Harmonious), Disney’s Hollywood Studios has remained quiet with nighttime entertainment since COVID closures as the Disney Park has yet to return the nighttime fireworks, “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular,” or the fan-favorite nighttime performance of Fantasmic! on Sunset Boulevard.
Even though Fantasmic! has made its grand return at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World fans have been left waiting with only the promise from Disney that it will reopen “in 2022.”

As we kick off August 2022, it still remains a mystery when the Disney entertainment will return. After almost 900 days of closure, disheartening aerial photos show Fantasmic! sitting dormant.
On August 6, 2022, @bioreconstruct took to social media to share three aerial photos of the Fantasmic! attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
As you can see in the photos, the Fantasmic amphitheater looks clean and ready to go with the moat being filled with water which is an improvement from the previously drained water photos.

It also looks like the large character boat is sitting, waiting to be once again used to take a large amount of Disney characters around the theme park waterway, with Steamboat Willie at the helm.
Unfortunately, these photos continue to show the lackluster of the once brilliant attraction. Comments to the post note, “When!!??”; “Ahhh, so quiet.”; and “Oh god definitely not reopening for a hot minute.”
Disney has remained quiet on reopening plans. Thankfully, the landing page for the attraction on the Walt Disney World website still notes, “Fantasmic! – Returning 2022!” along with the attraction description:
