VIDEO: Mickey Slips (but Recovers Quickly!) During Fantasmic

Mickey Fall Fantasmic

Sharing your dream with a crowd of thousands through one of the best Disney nighttime spectaculars ever is no easy job. While Mickey does not usually run into any issues during Fantasmic, a recent performance included a quick slip on stage and an even quicker recovery.

Scott Gustin caught the fall on video and shared it on Twitter during a recent trip to Disneyland:

The fall took place just ahead of one of the most iconic moments in Fantasmic when Mickey magically shoots fireworks sparklers out from his fingertips. Thankfully, he was able to recover from the fall very quickly and gracefully and it does not appear that our favorite mouse was hurt at all during the performance.

Fantasmic recently returned to Disneyland Park on May 28, 2022, after a lengthy hiatus continuing beyond the park’s closure from the COVID-19 pandemic. The show is one of the most popular nighttime spectaculars both at the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort and fans were thrilled to learn that performances would be back on both coasts this year.

Disney has not yet announced a reopening date for Fantasmic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios other than “later this year.” Earlier in the spring, overhead shots of the Disney Park showed that work appeared to be taking place on the lagoon that surrounds the set of Fantasmic in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater, but we are still waiting on an official reopening date.

Disney describes Fantasmic as:

Featuring more than 50 live performers, massive sets, stunning effects, dazzling pyrotechnics and rousing music, this larger-than-life show is painted on a grand canvas of dancing water and light like nothing you’ve ever seen. Overflowing with silly and suspenseful surprises, it will leave your entire family smiling from ear-to-ear!

We’re glad Mickey was able to recover quickly and stay safe during this recent performance of Fantasmic, and we can’t wait to (hopefully) welcome the show back to Walt Disney World soon!
