Florida Man Arrested at Disney’s Hollywood Studios After Shoving Girlfriend and Baby

Violent incidents have been on the rise at theme parks, and unfortunately, at Walt Disney World, as larger crowds evidently lead to increased tension among Guests.

While most of the recent altercations at Disney Parks have been between various groups of Guests, often following instances of line-cutting, the latest incident is a case of domestic violence that led to an arrest at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

On July 5, 2022, a Florida man later identified as Matthew Johnson was arrested following an altercation where he was seen shoving his girlfriend and baby to the ground in the Disney Park.

Disney Dining spoke to Alyssa P., an eyewitness who saw the couple being escorted out of the park, followed by Johnson getting physical with her partner and shoving the baby causing them to fall to the ground. He was arrested immediately by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department on the charge of Domestic Violence.

According to a Cast Member who spoke to Alyssa, the couple had been seen fighting during their visit to the theme park and were asked to leave, which is why they were already being escorted out by security when the arrest was made outside of the Park.

Despite the security presence, Alyssa shared that the entire incident was “all so disturbing,” as Johnson continued to assault his girlfriend and baby while leaving the Park and being turned over to the Sheriff’s Department.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen numerous altercations at Disney Parks, with a recent screaming match at the Transportation & Ticket Center near the Magic Kingdom, and a larger brawl inside the theme park that led to arrests and lifetime bans for some of the Guests involved.

Outside of the Disney bubble, Knott’s Berry Farm has taken a different approach to manage fights by adding a chaperone policy to keep unattended teenagers out of the Park.

Thankfully Disney’s security team is always present in the theme parks and ready to jump into help in instances like these. Still, Guests have been rather unpredictable lately, so if you ever witness a tense situation, do not hesitate to alert a Cast Member.
