If you are heading down to Walt Disney World this October there is so much to experience throughout the four theme parks. We have what you won’t want to miss out on if you visit Disney World this month.

Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration

October 1st started Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration, and it will continue throughout the month. Don’t miss out on this celebration while you are visiting the theme Park. You can find fun merchandise and snacks throughout the parks and resorts. These are sparkly and fun and a great way to be a part of the celebration. You can enjoy all the EARidescent touches as well. The new 50th cavalcade features Mickey and friends in their new, shiny EARidescent clothes. Guests visiting in October will be the first to help Magic Kingdom celebrate its 50th birthday.

Disney Fab 50 Character Collection

We have slowly watched at Disney World and started putting up the 50 gold character statues throughout Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. When visiting in October, take some time to seek out these beautiful statues. We think it will be entertaining to turn it into a scavenger hunt when visiting the theme Park and find all 50 golden statues while on vacation. You could either search before going down so you know which theme Park they are located in or try to do it all on your own. No matter what method you choose, have a great time taking selfies with these 50 golden statues of some of our favorite Disney and Pixar characters.

Enjoy Extra Time

Starting in October there are two new ways that Disney Resort Guests can enjoy extra time in the theme Park. The first option you will want to take advantage of is the Early Theme Park Entry. This option happens at all four of the theme parks each day. Guests staying at a Disney Resort can get into the theme Park 30 minutes before the set Park opening time. This is an excellent way to get into the theme Park ahead of the crowds. If you can ride two of the main rides, this can set your day off for success. The second option is only available for Guests staying at deluxe resorts. These are extended evening hours and allow those Guests to enjoy extending time at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. These are only offered on specific days (typically a Monday or Wednesday) and are three extra hours in the evening at the Park. These hours are going to be a fantastic option for those Guests staying at a Deluxe Resort.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort Incredibles Themed Rooms

Visit Disney’s Contemporary Resort

One of the original Disney Resorts, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, has been going through various upgrades, and they are now mostly ready for Guests to enjoy. You can start by enjoying one of the new Incredibles-themed rooms. These updated rooms feature our favorite superheroes in subtle and fun ways. Also recently opened in the new Steakhouse 71. Replacing the beloved Wave, this new dining location has already gotten amazing reviews in just a few days it has been opened. Guests love the nods to the history of Disney World as well as the fantastic meal options. This is a popular location so make sure you get those dining reservations. Finally, if you are a fan of California Grill, this signature location has gone through a change. It now offers a pri-fix menu for Guests offering a three-course meal. The dishes featured on the menu will be ones inspired by past favorites and brand-new creations. The 3-course meal will include one appetizer selection, one entree selection, and one dessert. The meal will cost $89 per adult (ages ten and up) and $39 per child (ages 3-9), plus tax and gratuity. If you are heading down in October to Disney, you will want to stop by Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

See the New Firework Shows

EPCOT and Magic Kingdom both have two new nighttime spectaculars that you won’t want to miss out on during your October visit. In Magic Kingdom, the new show Disney’s Enchantment brings the magic to Guests with fireworks, music, and projections on the castle, stretching down Main Street, U.S.A.. Over in EPCOT, Guests can watch the long-awaited Harmonious. This nighttime spectacular brings water projections and music and uses the five huge floating set pieces to house special effects for the production. These shows are breathtaking, and you won’t want to miss either while visiting.

Visit the French Pavilion

You will want to take time to visit the newly expanded French Pavilion in EPCOT. Make sure to take a spin with Remy on the newest attraction in Disney World Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. You will need to join a virtual queue very similar to what Rise of the Resistance had been using over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. After you get shrunk down to the size of Remy and race through the kitchen of Chef Guesteau’s, you will want to stop by and get a sweet or savory crepe from La Creperie de Paris. This new dining location offers both a quick-service window as well a sit-down option. Enjoy a treat while you explore the expanded pavilion.

Get a Treat at the

Just reopened in time for the 50th, the Main Street, U.S.A. Confectionary is the place to go for a quick snack. With a new rainbow candy wall as well as a new “Kernel Kitchen,” which is where you can customize your very own popcorn. If you want a speciality treat, make sure you make a stop here.

Disney KiteTails

See New Disney KiteTails Show

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you will want to stop and see the new Disney KiteTails show. This new show features large kites featuring some of our favorite Disney characters, such as Simba, Timon, and Pumba. You can catch both of the 10-minutes shows featuring either the Lion Kingdom or Jungle Book. The details and beauty of these kites are wonderful. Make sure to check the showtimes in the My Disney Experience app. This is a great addition to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Enjoy the Beacons of Magic

As part of the World’s Most Magical Celebration, all four theme Park icons will be transformed into Beacons of Magic. Cinderella Castle will “illuminate the Park with a dazzling glow that sparkles with pixie dust.” Over at EPCOT, Spaceship Earth will have lights shite off the panels to show “beacons of possibility and optimism.” Hollywood Tower Hotel will “glitter with EARidescence reminding us all of imagination and adventure.” Finally, in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Tree of Life will have “enchanted fireflies gather to call forth the magic of nature.” These nighttime light shows are truly magical and something that shouldn’t be missed.

If you are heading to Walt Disney World in October, make sure you enjoy these magical experiences during your vacation.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
