Behind-the-Scenes Look at Henna Tattoos at Walt Disney World

Did you know you can get Henna tattoos done during your Walt Disney World vacation? These temporary stained tattoos are created by hand by a number of talented artists around Walt Disney World, and they can be a fun addition to your look during your stay.

Recently, Disney Springs Henna artist Fatiha shared a look at one of her gorgeous designs available for Guests on the official Disney Parks TikTok account:

In the video, Fatiha explains that Henna is a tradition in her family, with her mother also being a talented artist, and her own journey with Henna beginning 17 years ago in EPCOT in the Morocco pavilion. (When available, Henna is also offered in Morocco in EPCOT’s World Showcase and in Mombasa Marketplace located in Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.)

Fatiha’s artwork is mesmerizing to watch, with so much detail going into every shape and curve that she creates with the entire piece topped off with glitter. Henna tattoos are beautiful in all stages of the art, whether when they are first created like in the video above or when the design stained onto one’s skin is visible later on.

While often referred to as a “tattoo” Henna does not place ink under the skin, making it entirely temporary. Henna is made with dyes created from Lawsonia inermis, or a Henna tree that temporarily stains the skin. While some people adorn themselves with Henna simply because it is a breathtaking form of artwork, some cultures use Henna for special occasions, such as weddings.

Henna is one of a number of handmade art pieces you can have created as a souvenir during your Walt Disney World vacation. Many Disney resorts have caricature artists on-site, and the hand-drawn silhouettes available for purchase in the Magic Kingdom have remained a classic Disney souvenir for decades. Will you be getting Henna done during your next trip?
