James Bond’s next chapter isn’t arriving in theaters just yet—but the iconic agent has already been given a new face. Irish actor Patrick Gibson has been revealed as the latest Bond in “007 First Light”, a video game origin story unrelated to the big-screen reboot currently in development at Amazon MGM.
The confirmation came courtesy of Lennie James, who also stars in the game as Bond’s mentor, John Greenway.

James, best known for The Walking Dead and Save Me, appears prominently in the trailer, sharing dangerous field moments with the young Bond—including a sequence where the pair hang above a pit of crocodiles. His character marks a departure from traditional Bond lore, serving as a hands-on guide in 007’s earliest missions.
Gibson, who broke out recently in Dexter: Original Sin, now joins the elite list of actors to wear the tuxedo after Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. His casting had been rumored for months, but James’ comments have cemented him as the official face of Bond in this new medium.

The game’s story also introduces other familiar allies. M, the MI6 chief portrayed in film by names like Dame Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes, has been reimagined once again.
Miss Moneypenny returns in a form reminiscent of Naomie Harris’ portrayal in the Daniel Craig era films, while Q reprises his gadget-supplying duties.
The trailer also teases an enigmatic new adversary: Agent 009, billed as a “master manipulator.” The name alone recalls past villains by fellow agents, such as Sean Bean’s 006 in GoldenEye. On the other side of the spectrum, the romantic subplot comes through Isola, a “Bond girl” believed by many fans to be played by French/Japanese actor Noémie Nakai.
