Following the box office success of Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), Universal is ready to shift attention back to where it all began with “Jurassic Park: Survival”, a new video game that dives directly into the aftermath of Spielberg’s original 1993 blockbuster.

Announced at The Game Awards in 2023, the title casts players as Dr. Maya Joshi, a geneticist caught on Isla Nublar after the storm forces an evacuation. With the rest of the staff gone, Joshi—played by Payal Mistry—must rely on her training, stealth, and resourcefulness to stay alive while navigating an island where humans are no longer in control.

The latest behind-the-scenes video offers the clearest picture yet of the team’s approach. Saber Interactive and Universal have re-created Isla Nublar with painstaking attention to detail, blending landmarks fans will instantly recognize with new areas that expand the park’s mythology. The Visitor Center, dense jungle trails, and towering paddock gates all make appearances, but players will also explore locations previously left off-screen.

Dinosaurs, naturally, are central to the experience. Built using designs inspired by Stan Winston’s groundbreaking work from the film, they move and behave in ways meant to evoke the same fear audiences felt in 1993. That doesn’t mean players are confined to the original roster—additional species will stalk the island, ensuring survival is never guaranteed.

Lisa St. Amand, Jurassic World Project Executive, emphasizes that this isn’t just a rehash of the film’s events. Instead, it’s about peeling back layers of the story and giving fans a chance to immerse themselves in a fully realized Isla Nublar. “We worked really closely with our partners with Amblin and our filmmakers to make sure that we’re capturing the island and all the dinosaurs in really great detail,” she explained.

There’s still no firm launch date, but the new footage suggests Universal isn’t cutting corners. “Jurassic Park: Survival” isn’t just about nostalgia—it’s a chance to step into the shoes of someone who never made it onto that rescue helicopter. For longtime fans, it’s an opportunity to return to the island that started it all.
