The 90-Minute Disney Quick Service Line We Didn’t Expect To See

Quick-service dining is a definite part of any Walt Disney World vacation. Not only does it offer the chance to eat without taking too much time of your day, but the quick-service restaurants often offer shade from the sun, providing Guests with a blast of much-needed AC.

When Guests think of quick-service, they will likely think of typical fast food options, such as burgers, fries, chicken tenders and pizza. It’s only when you spend some time browsing the quick-service menus ahead of your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, or stumble across quick-service dining locations when exploring the Disney theme parks, do you realise that there is a wide variety of choice when it comes to Disney quick-service dining.

Popular Quick-Service Locations

There are several Disney quick-service dining locations that are popular amongst Guests. Reasons for their popularity can vary; food choices and theming can often play a huge part in drawing Guests to specific quick-service restaurants.

The popular quick-service restaurants around the Walt Disney World Resort include:

  • Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza – Disney Springs
  • Earl of Sandwich – Disney Springs
  • Woody’s Lunch Box – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Casey’s Corner – Magic Kingdom
  • Satu’li Canteen – Disney’s Animal Kingdom
  • Connections Cafe – EPCOT
  • Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo – Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The Longest Quick-Service Line

There’s one Walt Disney World dining location that’s missing from the list above. It’s a dining location that is known for delicious pastries and freshly made sandwiches, soups and salads. You may have guessed it already… Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie.

Located at the rear of the France Pavilion in EPCOT, underneath the Eiffel Tower, we have recently experienced a 90-minute wait (!!) to place an order and enjoy the food served up in this Disney quick-service restaurant. Whilst we expected to have some sort of wait, we were taken by surprise to see the line extending passed the entrance to L’Artisan des Glaces.

The restaurant does cater for some sort of line, offering Guest service from two sides, and a line that winds round a smaller space, at the rear of the Impressions de France gift store. However, the popularity of this restaurant extended passed that, resulting in Guests making a line along the edge of the seating area, and outside the restaurant, down the French ‘street’ towards Monsieur Paul.

Why So Popular?

The delectable treats and tempting delicacies served up in Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie are unique to the France Pavilion in World Showcase. As such, Guests who wish to enjoy all that this quick-service dining location has to offer, must visit it when visiting EPCOT theme park.

Guests can choose from a selection of sandwiches and croissants; in addition to French specialities such as Quiche Lorraine and Croque Monsieur. This is also the place to enjoy a freshly baked baguette, that is served up with french butter. To help provide Guests with the immersive experience of the France Pavilion, there are several french pastries that are available to order throughout the day, such as a Brioche Au Chocolat, chocolate croissant and an alternative Beignet to the Mickey Beignets served up in Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort.

For those Guests that are looking for a sweet treat, Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie is the place to get just that. From strawberry tarts and creme brûlée, to chocolate mousse, macarons and a chocolate eclair; the tempting delicacies served up also make for an Instagram-worthy photo.

Tips for Dining at Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie

This EPCOT quick-service location is a great place to dine, and we highly recommend a visit when spending time in EPCOT. Opening hours match park hours, so if EPCOT is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the day you are visiting, then Les Halles will also be open during those hours. Here are some tips to consider if you’re hoping to dine there, but would rather avoid a long line:

  • Make it one of your first locations to visit in EPCOT. This will work well if you are wanting to enjoy breakfast from Les Halles. Typically, most Guests will head to attractions first, but if you are due to spend a large part of the day in the Disney Park, you will have time to ride the attractions a little later on. You won’t want anyone in your party getting a little hangry because they haven’t eaten!
  • Visit a little later in the day if you aren’t needing breakfast, and want to enjoy a sweet treat or late lunch instead. From our experience, the quick-service location’s line didn’t extend beyond the doors to Impressions de France during the afternoon.
  • Take advantage of entering EPCOT via International Gateway at park opening, so you only have a short walk to the France Pavilion, rather than coming from the main entrance by Spaceship Earth. This will be easier for Guests of the EPCOT Resorts and the Disney Skyliner Resorts.
  • If there’s a member of your party who doesn’t wish to ride Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, they could wait in line for Les Halles whilst the rest of your party take a ride. Chances are, if you get into the line at the same time, and there’s a long line for Les Halles, you’ll time it right to reunite and enjoy your order.
  • If some of your party would prefer to enjoy an ice cream, whilst others sample a french pastry or dessert, Les Halles is located close to L’Artisan des Glaces. There are plenty of ice cream flavors to choose from, in addition to unique Disney dining offerings, such as brioche filled with ice cream and sauce, known as a Croque Glace.

We definitely recommend dining at Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie, whether you are lucky enough to have a minimal wait before placing your order, or have to endure, potentially, the longest quick-service line you’ll experience in Walt Disney World. It’s a great place to enjoy tasty food, with shade from the sun. If there are no tables inside, why not take your order to the France Pavilion fountains, opposite Chefs de France, and enjoy your treats with a beautiful view or World Showcase?
