One of the most popular attractions in the Magic Kingdom has had a difficult year with multiple sinkings taking place forcing Guests to evacuate.

Splash Mountain, which previously dealt with one of its log ride vehicles sinking two times earlier this year, just experienced its third “sinking” last night, on July 12, 2022.

The latest sinking was caught on camera by Guest Ted Klein, who was in the log that followed the one that sink, and originally shared to the Annual Passholders – Walt Disney World Facebook Group, and later reshared on Twitter:

Along with the video, Klein shared:

So, this just happened on Splash Mountain.
Edit- They went down the big drop with their boat halfway sunk and they were trying to get someone’s attention before they started going up. This is at the very end of the ride. They were lucky that they only got wet.

It is unclear from comments by those who witnessed the sinking when a Cast Member came onto the scene, but in the video it appears that Guests are simply evacuating themselves.

In addition to this being the third recent sinking on the attraction, Guests who have visited Walt Disney World recently have noted that some of the effects and Audio Animatronics have not been working properly. Following this incident, Splash Mountain was closed to Guests briefly but it has since reopened.

Splash Mountain is set to undergo a lengthy refurbishment as it will be reimagined into “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” a new attraction inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog (2009). While Disney has not yet announced a closing date for Splash Mountain, it was recently confirmed that the new version of the ride will open in 2024.

We will continue to monitor the attraction and will be back with updates on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as we learn more here on DisneyTips.
