Over the Fourth of July weekend, a full panel discussion took place at ESSENCE Fest in New Orleans. Several Disney executives joined Moderator Victoria Uwumarogie, Senior Lifestyle Editor of ESSENCE Magazine, in a local community spot, Historic Preservation Hall.
Stella Chase, daughter of late Chef Leah Chase, who was the inspiration behind Tiana’s Story, also made an appearance. Her honorary Imagineer status was one of the panel discussion topics.
Other topics discussed include details about the ride, Tiana’s look, and the inspiration behind the revamp. Also included in the video is an exceptional performance by Jenifer Lewis!

The voice of Mama Odi in the movie Princess and the Frog (2009), she sings “Dig a Little Deeper” alongside a swinging band. Her live rendition gives music lovers a reason to watch the video in and of itself!
Splash Mountain first opened at Disneyland Park in 1989, followed by Walt Disney World in 1992. Tokyo Disneyland also has its own Splash Mountain, mirroring the ride at WDW and opening in the same year, but this location will not be rethemed alongside its predecessors.
Continuing where the film left off, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure flaunts many new and compelling elements, including a soundtrack inspired by the beloved movie. When it comes to rides at Disney Parks, music plays a massive role in the overall feel of an attraction, so we can’t wait to see what Disney has in store.
