Magic Kingdom Floods AGAIN Following Big Parade Return

When do the words “unprecedented” and “shocking” become “frequent” and “expected”?

Well, when you have flooded theme parks seemingly every day, the flooding becomes part of life rather than a surprising experience.

Central Florida saw incredible scenes back on March 7 when torrential thunderstorms led to severe rainfall and localized flooding at EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And now, it looks like Walt Disney World has become a huge water park once again.

Disney Guests were shocked Monday evening, March 7 – only hours before Park closing – to see Disney’s theme parks fill with water as rain tipped down in major levels.

Florida’s afternoon thunderstorms are infamous, but this downpour was like nothing we’ve ever seen. The water-filled streets of EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios left Guests the chance to play in the rain, dance, and pretend to swim.

And after the grand return of Disney’s Festival of Fantasy parade today at 11:30 a.m., Disney Guests were treated to another epic flood. @streamingthemagic shared their video of major flooding seen in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom theme park:

The video shows Guests wading through floodwater outside Cosmic Ray’s quick-service restaurant between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland at the Orlando theme park.

There are Guests tip-toeing, wearing ponchos, running for cover, and even one Guest plowing a stroller through the water.

The flood in Magic Kingdom comes after a huge thunderstorm rolled through Lake Buena Vista, mere hours after the return of the Festival of Fantasy parade down Main Street, U.S.A.

We’d seen the modified return of shows like Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Beauty and the Beast, and The Festival of the Lion King after the pandemic, and today was a special day in welcoming back characters like Mickey, Cinderella, Merida, and Peter Pan in parades at Walt Disney World.

The images from the parade’s return showed dark clouds behind Cinderella Castle, but nothing prepared Disney Guests for the flooding they’d have to wade through during their Disney vacation.

We’re not clear yet whether this flooding and heavy rain will impact Disney’s theme park operations, including attractions like Mad Tea Party, Tomorrowland Speedway, and Seven Dwarf Mine Train nearby. It seems that most of the flooding was fairly shallow and didn’t enter any buildings.

We’ll keep you posted with any post-flood damage or theme park operations, and in the meantime, we’re going to buy some water shoes and waterproof pants for our next Disney vacation!
