VIDEO: Magic Kingdom Updates Classic Attraction to Make It Even More Inclusive

When it comes to Walt Disney World Resort, Magic Kingdom is the theme Park with the most classic attractions. Fan favorite rides can be found in every themed land. For example, there’s Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland, the Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland, Space Mountain in Tomorrowland, and “it’s a small world” in Fantasyland.

Each of these attractions is decades old, and they aren’t going anywhere due to their popularity and originality. While each of these classic rides holds a special place in many Guests’ hearts, but “it’s a small world” takes the cake for the cutest. The attraction is dedicated to the childlike innocence everyone is born with and how we’re all capable of connecting despite distance and cultural differences.

“The Happiest Cruise That Ever Sailed” consists of animatronic children from all around the world partaking in cultural traditions. Each animatronic is identical, save for skin and hair colors, to further drive home the themes of inclusion and peace. However, many Guests have found certain portions of the attraction offensive due to potential stereotypical depictions of certain races and cultures.

Walt Disney World must have picked up on certain subtleties that are no longer appropriate in this day and age, and in an attempt to create a more inclusive and enjoyable experience for all, has made some changes.
