MagicBand+ is launching this summer at the Walt Disney World Resort, bringing new interactive elements to all four theme parks and even to select nighttime spectaculars.
The new MagicBands will have interactive components that light up during both Harmonious in EPCOT and Disney Enchantment in the Magic Kingdom, and we just got a first look at how the bands will “perform” alongside these iconic fireworks shows.

Theme park journalist Scott Gustin shared a preview of what the new MagicBand+ will look like during Harmonious and Disney Enchantment, and the new lighting element looks like a fun addition to any Disney Parks fan’s wardrobe.
The show lighting will be similar to the “Glow With the Show” products offered by Disney in the past, which have since been discontinued but at one point promised Guests the ability to purchase lighted Mickey Mouse ear hats that coordinated with the fireworks (and Fantasmic).

The problem with the former “Glow With the Show” items was largely the pricepoint, with few Guests opting to purchase the interactive ear hats, especially if they did not visit Disney Parks frequently. And, since the interactive element on the hats could not be seen unless others were also wearing them, it was one of those products that seemed it would only either take off and become very popular or, well, not.
In addition to Disney Enchantment and Harmonious, MagicBand+ will light up in conjunction with the Beacons of Magic, which can be spotted on the icons of each Disney Park as part of the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort.
MagicBand+ will likely have a better success rate as the band’s ability to interact with Disney fireworks shows is only one of its perks. The new MagicBand+ also connects to interactive experiences around the theme parks, including with the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection statues and with games in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Another exciting perk of MagicBand+ is that they are rechargeable, which arguably makes them a better investment than their predecessors which had batteries that only lasted a couple of years.
MagicBand+ launches July 27, 2022, at the Walt Disney World Resort and will launch at the Disneyland Resort at a later date. We will be back here on DisneyTips with additional updates related to MagicBand+ as we have them.
