Make the Cupcake Inspired by DOLE Whip at Home

DOLE Whip Day is just around the corner, and Disney is cooking something up! The dairy-free dessert is well known throughout all the Parks; it’s the one thing we all want even when we’re not visiting a Park. Previously, Disney released the recipe for the tasty snack, and now they’re releasing a recipe for a dessert inspired by the swirling pineapple treat.

If pineapple isn’t your jive, Disney offers so many flavors of DOLE Whip, genuinely making it a favorite for all fans. Some flavors are strawberry, mango, raspberry, and orange. Serving DOLE Whip as soft serve in a cup, a cone, a sundae, float, or with alcohol, Disney has all the options. This delicious treat inspired the classic cupcake sold at Contempo Café in Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Pineapple Cupcake Recipe

The recipe calls for three parts: pineapple mousse, buttercream, and cupcakes. This recipe makes 12 cupcakes, allowing some freedom with the cupcake mix. “Use your favorite yellow cupcake recipe or box mix” Disney Parks Blog pens. The recipe is as follows;


  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons pineapple-flavored powdered gelatin


  • 1 tablespoon pineapple juice
  • 3 tablespoons pineapple-flavored powdered gelatin
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk


  • 12 vanilla cupcakes from a favorite recipe or box mix
  • Yellow food coloring
  • Orange food coloring
  • 12 maraschino cherries
