A Disneyland Park character interaction, captured on video, has sparked a social media debate after Mickey Mouse appeared to reprimand a father for inadequate supervision. The Halloween season footage shows the iconic Disney character taking direct action when a young boy crashed into him while his parent filmed rather than watching his child.
Mickey Mouse Takes Action
X user @TheFigen_ shared the Main Street, U.S.A., encounter that quickly went viral. The video footage documents a small boy running into Mickey Mouse from behind as his father stood recording the scene on his mobile device.
What followed surprised onlookers. Mickey Mouse gestured as if searching for responsible adults before character attendants pointed out the filming father. The performer approached the parent, took his hand, and motioned for him to put his phone in his pocket. Mickey then physically connected the father’s hand with his son’s hand.
It’s not Mickey Mouse who has to teach you how to be a parent.

Using exaggerated movements, Mickey indicated the father needed to actively supervise his child to prevent him from wandering. After kissing the boy’s head, Mickey departed while once again gesturing toward proper supervision, then shrugged at surrounding theme park guests before exiting with character attendants.
Online Backlash Against the Parent
Commentary flooded social media platforms as users condemned the father’s choice to film instead of managing his child’s safety around the character performer.
“When you need a cartoon mouse to teach you how to be a good parent,” @LeviNotAckerman commented.

Several voices called for Disneyland Resort to enforce consequences against the family.
“I would be disgustingly embarrassed if this ever happened to me,” @HueyJackNation wrote. “I would say thats almost grounds for removal from the park. Its a liability to the child and the park.”

Minority Defends Father
Despite widespread criticism, some social media users questioned whether Mickey Mouse acted appropriately by publicly correcting the parent. @lonelyfireflyX replied:
No one’s handing out parenting lessons like it’s a cartoon. Real-life parenting is messy, challenging, and full of trial and error definitely not something Mickey Mouse can teach you. You learn by doing, stumbling, and figuring it out along the way.

“Unpopular opinion: A tiny little boy runs in to Mickey & he calls the dad out & makes an *ss out of him,” said @SmokinApesNFT. “Do better Mickey. This is supposed to be the most wonderful place on Earth.”
