Lots of new and returning character sightings and meet-and-greets are popping up around Walt Disney World this summer, and for those looking for a way to bypass the standby line, some of these experiences will soon be added to Genie+.
Genie+ gives Guests who pay for the service ($15 per person, per day, plus tax) Lightning Lane access to select attractions, shows, and character meet-and-greets around Walt Disney World, essentially functioning as a paid version of the previously offered FastPass+. Select attractions are also only available as individual Lightning Lane options, excluded from the basic Genie+ lineup.
With popular character meet-and-greets gearing up to return to each Disney Park, the latest addition to the Genie+/Lightning Lane entry lineup is Star Wars: Launch Bay.
Star Wars: Launch Bay will be reopening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 17, 2022. When the location reopens, Guests will once again be able to access the exhibits that share artifacts, costumes, and iconic memorabilia used in the films, as well as character meet-and-greets with Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and BB-8.
Genie+ will be available for Guests looking for meet all three characters beginning on July 17, 2022. If you are new to Genie+ and hoping to take advantage of the service during your next trip to Star Wars: Launch Bay, you can purchase it for the day of your visit right in the My Disney Experience app.
There are lots of additional Star Wars experiences to be had around Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including the classic Star Tours 3-D motion simulator attraction, as well as all of the immersive experiences in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Guests looking for the ultimate immersive (and splurgeworthy) Star Wars experience can also book a two-night stay aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, which includes an excursion to Batuu to explore Black Spire Outpost.
As for past Star Wars experiences that are still missing? The Star Wars: Galactic Spectacular show has not yet returned, however, it is still listed on Disney’s official website as “temporarily unavailable,” so we may see it come back eventually.
For younglings, the Jedi Training Academy offered a course in lightsaber skills and a chance to fight a character from the Dark Side (perhaps Kylo Ren or Darth Vader). Disney has not confirmed whether this experience will return to the park, though, and the listing for it has been removed from the Resort’s website and app.
Included on Genie+ for Star Wars fans at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are the Launch Bay character meet-and-greets beginning July 17, 2022, as well as Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Tours which are already available. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is an individual Lightning Lane purchase.
