Muppet Labs Coming to EPCOT

Walt Disney World Resort has announced new surprises coming to this year’s EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. What can we expect to see there? The Muppets!

The future of food will be made with Muppet Labs! Join Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker as they experiment with delicious flavors at the Brew Wing lab.

The pair of Muppet scientists will don their lab coats and embark on a journey of delicious discoveries! They will be debuting specialty snacks such as the Unnecessarily Spicy, Yet Extremely Tasty Scotch Bonnet Pepper-Curry Wings and mind-blowing beverages like the Pickle Milkshake.

These treats and many other scientific specialties can be taste-tested at their headquarters at the Odyssey in Future World.

Over the years, the Muppets have seen their popularity ebb and flow throughout pop culture and the Disney Parks. Once the biggest stars in Hollywood, the colorful cast of characters vanished from the movie and television scene for a few years. But now the are an addition to the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will be featured Guests starting in a Christmas-themed show during Jollywood Nights.

The Festival

The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival begins July 27 and will last until November 18, 2023. The annual celebration held at the theme Park includes global marketplaces, new merchandise, nightly entertainment, and more experiences for Guests to enjoy. It’s unclear whether or not actual Muppet characters will be visiting the booth at EPCOT.

Some have also speculated whether or not the inclusion of the Muppets signals a return to Muppet-themed attractions such as the Muppet Mobile Lab – which was an interactive contraption that drove around the theme Park with an audio-animatronic Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker. Is it possible we could see a Muppet revival?

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise.
