“Flower, gleam and glow. Let your powers shine.” And shine flowers do at EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival, which started today, March 2.

Filling EPCOT with incredible topiaries, outdoor food stalls, and beautiful flowers, the popular festival celebrates springtime and attracts Guests from all over the world.

Running from today until July 4, 2022, the festival allows Guests to see characters like Winnie the Pooh, Elsa, and Mickey Mouse recreated by Disney horticulturists all around World Showcase.

The fan-favorite Flower & Garden Festival Garden Rock concert series also returns to the America Gardens Theatre. Artists appearing include Kool & The Gang, Simple Plan, Daughtry, and Starship – you can see the full line of acts on Walt Disney World’s website.

But that’s not the only show Guests can enjoy as part of their theme park admission this year. Walt Disney World today surprised Guests with a new nighttime spectacle.

Since the start of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration, Guests have been able to enjoy the “Beacons of Magic” at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Spaceship Earth leaves Disney Guests in awe each evening as it sparkles with new lighting and music.

As new festivals open at EPCOT, Disney’s Imagineers have created new limited-time sequences that tie to the spirit of each festival and the spirit of EPCOT in stunning and poetic moments never before possible on this grand icon.

And today, Disney announced that a Pocahontas-themed show will play on Spaceship Earth during the 2022 EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival!

Pocahontas doesn’t typically get a lot of love in the four theme parks, making appearances in the new Adventure Calvacade in Magic Kingdom, on the Discovery River Character Cruise at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Parks, and previously, in Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios.

Now, she has her own show in the form of a new sequence on Spaceship Earth’s “beacon”, which will surely please all fans of the underrated 1995 animated movie.

Imagineer Zach Riddley revealed the news on his Instragram:

The post surprised EPCOT Guests, who got the first look this evening of the new sequence. Riddley’s announcement reveals the details of the new light show:

Our Imagineering team set this stunning new sequence to the Academy-Award winning song “Colors of the Wind” from the 1995 Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Pocahontas”. The orchestral variation of this song was chosen for its message of intrinsic value and respect for beauty of nature and living things – with new visual flourishes that evoke the musical scene from the film with techniques entirely original for Spaceship Earth.

Keep a look out for a few homages for fans who know the film and the song well. We also have – for the first time – Spaceship Earth will glimmer in vibrant greens, earth tones and pastels to celebrate the rejuvenation of spring.

Riddley currently leads design execution for all Imagineering efforts at Walt Disney World Resort and has been at the forefront of EPCOT’s current major transformation.

Zach joined Walt Disney Imagineering back in 2004 where he worked on design concepts for Hong Kong Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, and Disney California Adventure Park. He subsequently partnered on the research, planning strategy, and successful relaunch of Disney California Adventure Park; and contributed to the planning and development for Shanghai Disney Resort.

We know we can’t wait to get over to EPCOT and see this brand new sequence on Spaceship Earth!
