We’re pretty sure that all of us, at one point or another, have wished we could claim Walt Disney World as our permanent residence.

It’s where the magic is real and part of everyday life. While we won’t be allowed to move in anytime soon, Disney has now created a way for a magical memory of your choice to remain attached to Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom forever. Okay, maybe not forever, but for at least the next three years.

In honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and in collaboration with Snap we have some majorly cool news.

Disney’s PhotoPass service will be starting the Cinderella Castle “Mural of Memories.” This new feature will allow Guests of Magic Kingdom to virtually transform Cinderella Castle with photos of your magical memories through the My Disney Experience App by using some really cool technology.

If you are wondering how this all works, we’ll explain the process to you. The first thing you’ll need to do is have a portrait-oriented Disney PhotoPass photo taken. Guests can then go into the My Disney Experience App while in Magic Kingdom and select the “Mural of Memories” feature on the app’s home screen.

The app will then prompt you to select a photo from your gallery within the app. If you would prefer not to use any of these photos, then Guests can choose from a collection of images featuring Disney icons and/or some of your favorite Disney characters.

Once you have selected the photo that you would like to use, you will then need to point your phone’s camera at Cinderella Castle to choose an available spot on the castle for your photo to be digitally pinned. You and other Guests will then be able to see your selected photo every time you visit the Magic Kingdom. Guests will be able to do this by viewing the spot that you’ve selected on Cinderella Castle through the camera on your phone.

When Guests select the photo, you will see a magical video that shows your picture flying off the castle and to your phone. If you are a Cast Member, Annual Passholder, Disney Vacation Club Member, or Club 33 Member, then your photo will receive a personalized border to reflect your affiliation.

The Cinderella Castle “Mural of Memories” feature is available for a cost of only $9.99, but Guests will have the ability to download a high-resolution version of the pinned photo you’ve selected without any watermarks, which alone would usually cost $16.95. Guests can even enhance their experience with AT&T 5G in select locations around Cinderella Castle.

One of the reasons that makes this the most magical transformation that Cinderella Castle has ever undergone is because it is being virtually transformed using our own magical Disney family memories. For Disnerds like us, it doesn’t’ get any better than that.

Or at least it doesn’t until we can have this same virtual experience in EPCOT with Spaceship Earth, the Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or with The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Mural of Memories makes us think of when Walt Disney himself said “the important thing is the family.” We couldn’t agree more.
