Time to grab those smartphones! Disney has launched a new feature via its My Disney Experience that is especially helpful for Disney Resort Guests to know.
For the first time in over two years, we can finally say ALL Walt Disney World Resort Hotels have now reopened. When COVID closed Disney’s doors in March 2020, little did we know the impact it would have on the theme park giant.
With the reopening of the final hotel, Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, we’re thrilled to once again visit the many experiences in and around Disney Resorts.
While the Disney Resort Hotel experience has changed recently with no more Disney’s Magical Express or complimentary MagicBands, we are happy to hear features such as regular Housekeeping is returning, along with the reopening of Disney Resort restaurants.
With the reopenings and adjustments, Disney is now introducing a new feature to its My Disney Experience App. Thankfully, no, this one doesn’t have anything to do with the Disney Genie, Disney Genie+, or Lightning Lanes! Disney has revealed a new hotel checkout feature.
If staying at a Disney Resort, Guests are welcome to leave their Resort room on check-out day (by 11:00 am) and skip the front desk altogether unless a Guest has unresolved charges. A hotel folio is emailed to that Guest’s account.
Now, Disney has rolled out a new “Check Out Via App” feature. Currently available at two Walt Disney World Resort hotels including Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort, Guests can go into the My Disney Experience App and select to check out via the app.
Why not just leave without checking out as before? Of course, the option to leave without letting the front desk know or not noting it in the app is perfectly fine, but we believe with this addition, Disney is working to ensure Housekeeping can move into rooms earlier without having to wait for the 11:00 am check-out time.
Disney has noted that while this is a new feature only available at two Resorts, they do plan to expand the Disney Resort Hotel experience to more of their Resorts in the future.
Keep in mind that Walt Disney World Resort also recently updated its App with a new feature for Cast Member Compliments. This feature allows Guests to enter the name and location of a Cast Member that made their Disney experience extra special while notifying both the Cast Member and the Cast Member’s supervisor about the compliment.
As always, keep that phone charged and ready to go for your Disney Park and Resort day. With features such as online check-in, Genie tip board, wait time listings, dining reservations, Mobile Order, Merchandise Mobile Checkout, Disney PhotoPass, and Memory Maker, it is becoming increasingly important to utilize the My Disney Experience App for an exceptional Disney vacation.
