It’s hard to believe it has been almost two full years since Disney began its phased reopening. This one has been worth the wait however as Disney’s pre-COVID housekeeping (AKA “Mousekeeping”) is making a comeback at select Walt Disney World Resort Hotels!
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed several things around the globe, making Disney Parks no exception. Disney entertainment has changed as autographs and character hugs are still on hold. The former complimentary FastPass is now a Disney Genie upcharge. And Disney character dining is still a modified experience.
But, we are starting to slowly see the return of some pre-COVID experiences such as spa services, buffets, and parades! Now, we’re seeing a shift in housekeeping at select Disney Resort Hotels.
Pre-COVID, it was normal for Disney’s housekeeping to clean the Guest room every other day for most Guest stays (unless staying as a Disney Vacation Club member). When COVID hit, the cleaning schedule changed as housekeeping wasn’t allowed to enter the room as frequently during the Guests’ stay.
The days of a clean hotel room are back! @GGOCrewOrlando took to Twitter to share the news with, “Pre-COVID Housekeeping Returning To More Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. It’s good news that more resorts are returning to pre-COVID cleaning schedules!”
This new wave of pre-COVID housekeeping is now available for Guests staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.
These three Resorts add to the list of current resorts that have gone back to the original every other day cleaning schedule which previously included: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (offers daily housekeeping cleaning).
Housekeeping’s every other day cleaning scheduled will include making the bed, cleaning the bathroom, wiping down all surfaces, replacing amenities as needed, dusting, folding and organizing loose clothing, and other special touches.
Staying as a Disney Vacation Club Guest at one of these Disney Resorts mentioned above? Take note that the cleaning schedule remains the same for DVC member stays, but members can purchase additional cleaning services if they choose to do so.
