The 2022 D23 Expo is in full swing and we are excited to continue sharing news all about upcoming Disney Parks experiences. One of the most highly anticipated attractions coming to Walt Disney World was featured in today’s panels, and we’ve got the update you need to know.
TRON Lightcycle / Run was first announced as an upcoming addition to Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom during the 2017 D23 Expo. And now, five years later, we finally have a confirmed opening timeline for Walt Disney World’s newest coaster!

Disney has confirmed that TRON Lightcycle / Run will make its Walt Disney World debut in Spring 2023.
In today’s panel, Josh D’Amaro showed footage of himself taking a test-ride on the attraction and confirmed the opening timeframe for the attraction.

During Disney’s initial announcement of the new attraction, the official description read:
The highest-rated attraction at Shanghai Disneyland, TRON Lightcycle Power Run is a coaster-style attraction where riders board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for a thrilling adventure.Â
When the roller coaster was originally announced, the attraction was intended to open in 2021 in time for the kick-off of the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Walt Disney World Resort. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, however, operating schedules at Disney Parks and Resorts were adjusted and no opening date was confirmed for the attraction until today.

Disney’s last updates on TRON Lightcycle / Run showcased behind-the-scenes looks at the attraction in honor of the 40th anniversary of the film. Earlier this summer, the attraction was seen tested, and Disney began training Cast Members to work on the Walt Disney World Railroad which had been closed due to the construction on TRON Lightcycle / Run.
