We’ve got news that a popular roller coaster ride located on Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios may be getting rethemed! Can you guess which attraction we’re referring to?
Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is an enclosed thrill ride at Walt Disney World Resort that opened on July 29, 1999. The premise of the experience is that the famous rock group has invited Guests to ride along with them as they travel to a concert they’re running late for.

Although the attraction is incredibly popular with Guests, it looks as if Walt Disney World may be thinking about refreshing the experience. Some fans are reluctant to see change at Disney’s Parks and Resorts, but Walt Disney had something to say on the matter.
In a famous quote, he stated, “We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious … and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” In referring to Disneyland, he said, “It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”

It’s clear that Walt Disney was a fan of change, always promoting and implementing new ideas and processes at Disney Parks. A construction permit by Walt Disney World Resort has Guests wondering if Disney has plans for construction on the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.
The permit states the following in its General Description of Improvement, “Provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.” General construction suggests anything from minor updates to huge project overhauls.

But, the permit may give clues about the project because Disney’s Buena Vista Construction Company is listed to complete the work. The Buena Vista Construction Company often oversees major projects such as ride rethemes.
In fact, the company is in charge of the upcoming Splash Mountain reimagining, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which arrives at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park in 2024. Disney has yet to announce the permit or a possible project officially. They could simply be planning on improving the ride’s functionality, but we can dream, can’t we?!
