Walt Disney World has been adding additional theming to its hotel rooms over the past couple of years, with rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort being redesigned with a motif inspired by The Incredibles (2004) and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort taking on a new Moana (2016)-inspired look.

The updates to Disney’s deluxe Resorts have been more subtle, with Disney’s moderate Resorts striking a middle ground between a select number of themed rooms that fall between the deluxe updates and the larger than life theming of Disney’s value resorts.

Among moderate resorts, one themed accommodation experience beloved by Guests has been the pirate rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, which unfortunately are expected to be re-themed by 2023.

On June 8, 2022, Disney confirmed that the pirate rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort would soon be remodeled. While no official date is set for the closure of these rooms, Guests booking their next trips have noticed a number of dates where these rooms are already unavailable.

Though no timeframe has been officially announced permits have been filed for a number of rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, many of which currently have the pirate theme. Rooms with permits currently filed include:

If you are very familiar with Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, you may have noticed that some of these permits are for the Martinique building, which does not currently include pirate rooms. Most of these permits expire in April 2023, but the Martinique permits are valid through September 1, 2023.

No other renovations have been confirmed for Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, but the rooms included in the latest slate of permit filings is certainly interesting.

Disney has not yet announced what will be replacing the pirate rooms, and whether they will reopen with a new theme or something similar to the other standard rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. If permits have been filed with some of the work expected to be completed by next year, the rooms will likely close to Guests in the near future.

While the pirate rooms have been extremely popular with Guests who are fans of the pirate decor, some have pointed out that the major reason for re-theming these rooms in the first place was likely to incentivize Guests to book rooms at the Resort’s outermost buildings (with an upcharge for the added theming.)
