When Guests are planning a trip to Walt Disney World, it is sometimes hard to keep track of all the different policies and rules that are in place. One thing that some Guests wonder about is the policies when it comes to weapons in the Parks.

A few years back, metal detectors were put in place and have now been changed to the Evolv system that you walk through with your bags. This has taken away the need for security to go through each Guest’s bag unless something sets off the new system.

If you were wondering what Disney’s policy is when it comes to weapons at the Park, this is how it is stated on the official website:

“Guests are not permitted to have firearms, ammunition, knives or weapons of any kind at or in Disney Resort Hotels and Disney Vacation Club Resorts, including in hotel rooms, units, vacation home villas and general public areas within the hotels and resorts.”

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, it has been reported that at least five people have been arrested for carrying a concealed firearm around the end of 2021. This has become one of the top reasons Guests have been arrested at Walt Disney World.

Just a few stories consist of:

On November 28th, 2021, a man asked if he could enter Disney Springs with his weapons since he “had” a concealed weapons license. Not only are you not allowed to, but his permit was also suspended and expired, according to a sheriff’s report. It had been expired since July 2019, and he hadn’t thought to check it.

A 48 year old South Carolina man was caught with a 9mm handgun with a bullet in the chamber and two magazines containing 12 more bullets as he went through security in November of 2021. He was in the process of getting a concealed weapons permit but did not have one yet.

A woman from Georgia who was 22 said she didn’t realize she had a loaded 9mm pistol in her purse when she went through security at the Transportation and Ticket Center on November 3, 2021. She was there with her two children and the children’s father. The woman went to the Orange County Jail while the children went with their father.

There are so many more instances like this, but the moral of the story is do not try to bring a weapon into any Disney Park, Resort, or Disney Springs. They’re very clear about the rules, and it will most likely not end well for you.
