The Disney Decades Collection Millennials Have Been Waiting For

The 90’s babies are ready for this one! The Walt Disney Company has been celebrating 100 years in business. For 100 years, their passion for storytelling has continued to live on through the beloved characters and films created. As a part of the celebration, Disney Parks have joined in on the fun with limited-time decor, events, entertainment, and sips and bites.

The official start of The Walt Disney Company began on October 16, 1923. Walt Disney signed a contract with Margaret Winkler for the distribution of Alice and 56 short Alice films, ” inking in the date of October 16 as the company’s official start,” D23 writes. As the date approaches, Disney has continued to release surprises and mementos. shopDisney has naturally jumped aboard the celebration, releasing the Disney100 Decades. The collection begins with the 1920s and leads up to 2010.

As each collection has proceeded to be released over the years, the next collection up is the 1990’s. If you’re like me, you grew up on all of the Disney classics in the 90s. Those movies included some of the most iconic, like Hercules (1997), Aladdin (1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Toy Story (1995), Mulan (1998), and Tarzan (1999). Now, shopDisney is (hopefully) bringing these characters to the Disney100 Decades Collection.

The next collection up is the 1990, and millennials must be ready for this release. With so many iconic characters to choose from, it’s interesting to see what and who Disney will select to be a part of this release. Only given a sneak peek on the shopDisney Instagram, two items have been shown on their story prior to the date the collection is dropping. As seen below, Beauty and the Beast (1991) inspired Mickey-ears are shown, and A Goofy Movie (1995) themed backpack.

Additionally, the Instagram story added a fun fact: “In Beauty and the Beast, Belle was the only person in her town to wear blue.” What could this clue mean? A blue Loungefly backpack? A Belle-inspired jersey with shades of blue? The options are endless, and we cannot wait to see what unfolds. The 90’s collection will become available on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific time.
