We’ve always counted it as the first ride of the day, and the last ride of the day. No matter what they are to you, trams are incredibly necessary at the Disney Parks and they are finally making a long-awaited return.
Walt Disney World Resort reopened to the public in July of 2020 after a temporary closure due to the Covid 19 pandemic. However, with their reopening occurring still mid-pandemic, changes involving new rules, policies, and social distancing protocols, were forced into place.
The famous parking lot trams were one of the first things to go in the reopening of the Walt Disney Parks, which was seen as a disappointment to most Park Guests. Disney World is a humongous campus that involves thousands of steps each day and that’s just for getting between the attractions you actually want to see. Trams have been in operation at Disney World since 1971 and have been transporting millions of Guests each year at the beginning and at the end of their day.
Disney World tram riders have waited 1.5 years for any kind of update about when the trams would return, as their absence caused a great inconvenience for Park Guests with disabilities, as well as families with children, and just for anyone with tired feet at the end of the day.
Walt Disney World Resort announced in December of 2021 that the trams would make their return shortly, but so far, we’ve only seen the Tram for Magic Kingdom make a return earlier this year….until now!
Trams for Disney’s Animal Kingdom are due to return on May 27, 2022. Score.
Walt Disney World Resort has claimed trams for EPCOT and for Hollywood Studios would still make a return later in 2022, so we plan to stay turned and the seemingly never-ending Walt Disney World tram saga continues.
