A new dining experience, The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen, has soft-opened its second confectionery at Universal Citywalk Hollywood. Complete with sweet treats and impeccable themed design, its positive Guest reception comes in stark contrast to the mixed reviews around recent similar offerings by Disney Parks at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Moreover, on the same date as Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder Celebration, Toothsome will officially open its doors to all Universal Studios Hollywood Guests. Indeed, it seems quite coincidental that the full-service dining location would open in Universal’s Citywalk Shopping District only a month after Disney’s Boardwalk Inn introduced the now-controversial Carousel Coffee Cafe and on the same day as Disney debuts its 100th Anniversary Celebration.

Already a success at its Universal Orlando location, the “19th century themed” Toothsome Chocolate Emporium serves up “fantastical fare” with a steampunk feel. Unlike some opinions of Disney’s Carousel, the restaurant building is highly detailed, immersive, and complies with the historical setting in which it is supposed to take place.
In fact, the dining location comes with its own storyline, that of Professor Doctor Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome and Jacques the robot, both of whom visiting Guests may encounter during their meal! Menu items include unique sweet and savory flavors like Warm Chocolate Almond Bread, Coffee and Chocolate Stout Chicken Wings, crépes, and a selection of French-inspired everyday lunch items.

Moreover, the restaurant includes a comprehensive menu of cocktail drinks and signature artisanal milkshakes, many of which come topped with intricate chocolate curls or even pastries and cakes, which is certain to rival Black Tap’s Crazy Shakes at Downtown Disney. There’s plenty to make a chocolate lover’s mouth water from Jacques’ Specialty Milkshakes, such as the popular “Chocolate X5,” sundaes, and baked goods.
Plus, with gourmet chocolate and the classic steak and seafood, Toothsome certainly offers a unique and exciting culinary experience outside of the expensive theme park entry prices. One has to wonder how such a dedicated location as this will hold up to the plethora of new experiences coming to the neighboring Disneyland Resort this month.
