Universal Studios Great Britain is in development, and while the company hasn’t confirmed any specific lands or attractions yet, speculation is well underway. But one thing seems clear: based on Universal’s track record with its current theme park destinations, there’s reason to believe a dinosaur-themed land could be in the mix.
Of course, the obvious choice is Jurassic World, which is already among the rumored lands and attractions. Universal has leaned hard into this franchise for years, and with a seventh film due out in theaters soon and existing rides currently operating in Hollywood, Orlando, Japan, Singapore, and Beijing, it would be easy to duplicate the winning formula.
VelociCoaster, Jurassic Park River Adventure, and themed eateries have all been crowd-pleasers across the globe for years. But Universal Studios GB might aim to carve its own path, as it could be the perfect opportunity to try something new where prehistoric attractions are concerned. In other words, what if the dino land isn’t Jurassic at all?
Jurassic World Isn’t the Only Dino-Filled Franchise
Enter The Land Before Time. The animated 1988 film is beloved by generations and still holds nostalgic weight. It’s got iconic characters (Littlefoot, Cera, Spike, etc.), emotional storylines, and a prehistoric setting that could easily translate into a dark ride (think volcanic landscape) or even a gentle family coaster through the majestic Great Valley.
There’s also The Flintstones, another “stone-age”-themed property (owned by Warner Bros.). It’ has vibrant aesthetics, and already enjoyed Universal Studios’ theme park life in the ’90s as a stage production that ran for three years. A Bedrock-themed area would certainly have plenty of family appeal and wouldn’t require intense thrill rides to succeed.
And then there’s Godzilla. While typically associated with Toho and Warner Bros. in the U.S., a Godzilla-themed ride or walk-through based on the ongoing Monsterverse shared universe would offer a darker, more intense take on the dinosaur themed land concept.

Universal Studios GB Will Probably Lean Into British IPs
Even Walking With Dinosaurs, a BBC property whose revival is currently airing, could make an appearance. It’s unlikely—but given the resort’s location, it would make for an appropriate regional inclusion like the rumored James Bond and Paddington attractions.
Or maybe Universal will go completely left-field and drop in something offbeat like a dinosaur-level from Super Mario Bros. world (just look at Yoshi). The newly opened Epic Universe already features Super Nintendo World, so synergy isn’t out of the question.
Whatever Universal ends up building, we’re probably still getting a dinosaur-themed land. The only mystery now is whose prehistoric beasts will get spotlight.
