There are so many attractions to choose from at Walt Disney World that Guests often find it hard to fit all of their favorites into one day.

At Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme parks, there is an array of different themes, thrills, and shows to pick from.

For ghosts and ghouls, Guests can choose Haunted Mansion or the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror for some spooky surprises, and for a more high-flying adventure, Flight of Passage will have Guests soaring with the Na’vi.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway brings fan-favorite characters to life, while Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance allows fans of Star Wars to experience the movies like never before.

At Magic Kingdom, if Guests are looking to conquer the thrill challenge, they must complete all three mountains: Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Right now, however, Splash Mountain is closed for refurbishment and will remain closed through February 11.

Each year, the water flume ride closes down for refurbishment and routine maintenance. The many animatronics that live within the ride, including Br’er Bear and Br’er Rabbit, require some care every year to maintain the magic.

The attraction at Magic Kingdom is usually scheduled for closure during the colder months of January and February, and this year is no different.

Some Disney fans wondered if this closure had to do with the large retheme that is meant to take place on this attraction. Disney has not yet announced when either Disney World or Disneyland will be seeing the newly updated Princess and the Frog (2009) attraction, but we do know that it is being worked on by Imagineers at the moment in terms of the planning and story.

We didn’t any sign of Tiana or Naveen on our visit to Magic Kingdom this weekend, but we did take some photos of the attraction in its current, waterless, state.

We could see multiple construction workers and Cast Members moving grates and large parts of the ride mechanism.

Evidently, the attraction was without its famous water, so we could see all the moving parts usually hidden on the ride.

We also noticed some scaffolding to the left of the attraction, as well as some repainting being done to the outside of the Magic Kingdom ride.

We look forward to seeing the refreshed Splash Mountain in February, and in the meantime, will ride Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom for our water ride fix!

The official Disney World description reads:

A Hare-Raising Ride

Gently drift through a colorful Southern bayou along with happy-go-lucky Br’er Rabbit as he looks for his “laughing place.” But be warned: Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox are in hot pursuit of this wayward hare.

Glide by over 100 adorable Audio-Animatronics geese, frogs, raccoons, possums, bees, alligators and other down-home critters as they sing classic Disney ditties, including “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” and “Ev’rybody’s Got a Laughing Place.”

Then hang on to your hats—this delightful musical cruise ends in an exciting 5-story splashdown into a thorny Briar Patch!

You Will Get Wet

This attraction includes 950,000 gallons of water, 3 dips and a 5-story drop. Where you’re seated will determine how wet you’ll get. Riders in the back may experience a sudden splash or spray; those who opt for the front can expect to get soaked.

For Guests looking to ensure their personal items remain dry, lockers are available to rent near the Main Entrance
