Typically we sing the praises of the Sunshine State for its stunning sun-filled days. While the Central Florida weather is usually an oasis retreat, Florida is well known for its rainstorms which at times can be extremely strong.
One Disney blogger was spending the stormy evening live streaming while at Walt Disney World Resort’s EPCOT. In the middle of a conversation, a video captures a massive lightning bolt striking the iconic Spaceship Earth attraction.

@StreamingTheMagic was living streaming on Sunday night, May 15, 2022, when they captured the terrifying bolt of lightning striking EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth. The video is posted with the note, “Wow! Lightning strikes spaceship earth at Epcot Disney World during Kristen & Adam’s live stream on Streaming The Magic.”

Evenings are truly some of the very best times to enjoy EPCOT. Walt Disney World recently introduced the Park icons as “Beacons of Magic” including Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle, EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth, Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Tower of Terror, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life. The icons glow with stunning lights along with beautiful music nightly in celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
On this evening, however, it looks like Disney fans caught more lights than one could ever expect with this incredible lightning strike! Plus, with the excitement of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind previews, the Park was likely full of Guests.

Of course, on a night like this one, Disney Guests were likely hunkered down inside shops and restaurants trying to escape the nasty weather with hopefully lightning protection overhead. This video captures just how dangerous a Florida storm can truly be.
This thunderstorm and lightning flash are exactly why it’s great to know well in advance which attractions are available during rainy weather, and which ones to avoid altogether.
Incredible video @StreamingTheMagic! Stay safe and dry, Disney fans!
