Walt’s iconic plane located at Walt Disney World Resort is currently being disassembled for its next adventure… all the way in Anaheim, California, for the D23 Expo!
With the 2022 D23 Expo just a month away on September 9 – 11, 2022, Disney is working to take apart Walt’s plane, piece by piece, as they ship the memorabilia to the west coast near Disneyland Resort.

This particular plane is the plane that Walt flew when he was exploring the Walt Disney World Resort property in Central Florida. He studied the space that he and his team would work to create as the masterpiece theme park we all know and love… Walt Disney World.
Sadly, Walt didn’t get to see the completion of Walt Disney World before his passing in 1966, but his brother, Roy Disney, worked to complete the project with the grand opening in 1971.
We previously shared a photo of the aircraft sitting dormant in a field near Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. But, now, it is preparing to be a highlight at Disney D23 Anaheim Convention Center!
@bioreconstruct shared an updated photo of Walt’s plane on August 7, 2022, noting, “Aerial look at Walt Disney’s plane being shipped to Anaheim for D23. Tail removed, and it seems like there’s work also at the engines. Shipping crate and trailer at right likely part of the transfer. Plane has been in storage North of Animal Kingdom.”
