We are now a week out from the start of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. Last week fans around the world watched as Disney celebrated 50 magical years throughout the four Theme Parks. Now that we have seen what is being offered during the celebration we have some tips on what you won’t want to miss out on during the Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Disney Enchantment

The new nighttime show at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Disney Enchantment, was introduced on October 1st to celebrate Disney World’s 50th anniversary. This new show brings together projections, fireworks, and music to create a magical experience celebrating Disney’s 50th Anniversary. You won’t want to miss this nighttime show when you are in Disney World. Take time to find a spot on Main Street, U.S.A. so you can enjoy the projections that transform not only Cinderella Castle but also the buildings on Main Street, U.S.A.. If you don’t want to fight the crowds, consider booking one of the dessert parties that have returned. There are few dessert parties to choose from where you can enjoy desserts and drinks and get a designated viewing spot for Disney Enchantment. Make sure to plan an evening in Magic Kingdom to experience this show.

Harmonious

EPCOT also received a new nighttime spectacular for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. Harmonious is a fifteen-minute show that transforms EPCOT by using the World Showcase Lagoon to combine floating giant screens, moving fountains, lights, fireworks and lasers into one fantastic show. Music from beloved movies such as Mulan, Coco, Brave, Moana, Aladdin, The Princess, and the Frog, and many other classic stories all join to help create a moving show. Disney has taken these beloved songs to bring people together by transitioning the songs from language to language, bringing the magic together. Like with Disney Enchantment, there are also dining package options at Rose and Crown and Spice Road Table for Harmonious. These packages provide you with a meal and then a designated dining location. After seeing the World Showcase transform over the past year, it is magical to see Harmonious come to life as part of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.

Beacons of Magic at EPCOT

One that surprised us all was the Beacons of Magic on Spaceship Earth. This outstanding transformation of the iconic Spaceship Earth is an experience that shouldn’t be missed. Even though it is only a few minutes long, the combination of light and music truly is breathtaking and magical. If you catch it at the right time, you can see the monorail bringing an additional piece to the show. We highly recommend taking the time to make your way to the front of EPCOT to see this show.

The other theme parks also have beacons of light shows that light up Cinderella Castle, Hollywood Tower Hotel, and the Tree of Life, and where they are neat, the shows aren’t as long as the EPCOT show and aren’t as moving. If you happen to be nearby when they start, take time to watch, but we don’t feel the other three are must-sees like EPCOT’s.

Fab 50 Character Collection

We weren’t sure we cared about Disney’s Fab 50 Character Collection they placed around all four theme parks as part of The World’s Most Magical Celebration, but we have been convinced. These beautiful statues are placed throughout all four Theme Parks, and not only is it super fun to hunt them down, we also think that they are a must see. The details are truly magical, and we think everyone should have fun seeking them out. There are lists of where you can find the statues in each Park so if you have little ones; you could make it a scavenger hunt. This might be a great way to keep them busy as you navigate the Disney Park. Don’t forget to get those selfies!

Magic Shots

An exciting surprise was new Magic Shots by Disney’s PhotoPass Photographers. We have seen the super zoom shot where it focuses on your party and zooms out to show the whole area, such as Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. These are fun options and can show the crowd during that time. What we were super excited about was the new confetti Magic Shot that celebrates the 50th Anniversary. You can find this Magic Shot Magic Kingdom, located at the park entrance and the bridges that lead Guests into Liberty Square and Tomorrowland, in World Showcase in select locations at EPCOT, on Hollywood Boulevard upon walking into Disney’s Hollywood Studios and in front of the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This shot shows Guests blowing on confetti that has risen around them. The other new Magic Shot that was added for the 50th Celebration was the EARidescent Balloons. This Magic Shot has been found at Magic Kingdom and on Main Street U.S.A., the Park entrance and World Celebration neighborhood of EPCOT, and both Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Finally, we enjoy the new EARidescent Border Magic Shot, which can be found in Magic Kingdom in front of the Partners statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, near the World Celebration entrance to World Showcase in EPCOT, at the spot where Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards intersect at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Park entrance of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. These are all super fun, and we were excited that they were added to the celebration. Make sure you take advantage of these while visiting the theme Park.

New Cavalcades

Finally, don’t miss out on seeing the main mouse himself in the new 50th Anniversary Cavalcades. These Cavalcades feature Mickey Mouse and friends in their new, fancy EARidescent outfits. You won’t want to miss saying hi, so check the app to know when these are happening and then stop by the hub for some great pictures.

These are just a few of the magical experiences for Disney’s 50th Anniversary Celebration we think you shouldn’t miss. We are thrilled that this celebration will be happening for a while, so we have the chance to experience it all during our vacations. About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
