Why Were Are Thrilled for Our 2022 Walt Disney World Vacation

2022 is right around the corner, meaning that many of us will soon be able to say “I am going to Walt Disney World this year”!

As we prepare for our 2022 Walt Disney World vacation, there are many experiences that we are looking forward to.

We thought we would share what we are excited about when it comes to our 2022 vacation so you too can get excited for these experiences when you think about your own upcoming vacation.

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary

We are thrilled that we will be able to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary when we visit in 2022.

Sharing in the celebration throughout the year and into 2023 is something to look forward to.

From seeing Cinderella Castle with the 50th Anniversary colors to enjoying special treats, we can’t wait to joy in the celebration.

We look forward to seeing the 50th celebration cavalcade and searching for all the Fab 50th Golden Statues throughout the Parks.

We are glad that Walt Disney World Resort extended the 50th Anniversary Celebration into 2022 and beyond  so we can continue to celebrate the magic.

Disney Genie

2022 will bring a new planning experience as it will be our first trip using Disney Genie, Disney Genie+, and Individual Lightning Lanes.

When it comes to Disney Genie, we look forward to seeing what suggestions it provides us and learning how it lays out our touring of the Parks.

As for Disney Genie+, we are interested in how this will impact our vacation plans.  We don’t yet know if the investment is a good choice for our family or if it’s something we won’t use in the future.

Finally, when it comes to purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes for rides such as Rise of the Resistance, we look forward to seeing if we prefer this method over the previous Virtual Queue we used before.

New Nighttime Shows

We missed having nighttime shows throughout part of 2021 and are thrilled to experience these magical shows once again in 2022.

In Magic Kingdom, we look forward to seeing Disney Enchantment for the first time.  A combination of projections, music, fireworks, and magic; we can’t wait to see it high over the Magic Kingdom.

Over in EPCOT, we look forward to learning how the barges we have seen over the last year have come together to make Harmonious.

With water projections, fireworks, and music, we can’t wait to see the magic that makes this show.

New Rides

One of the reasons that we visit Walt Disney World each year is because there are new rides to experience.

This year, we look forward to riding Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure for the first time in EPCOT.

Although this ride opened October 1st with the 50th celebration, we haven’t been able to catch a ride yet.

We are excited to get shrunk down to the size of Remy as we race through the kitchen.  The new trackless ride system is something we are excited to experience.

Also coming to EPCOT is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.  This ride will open in the summer of 2022, and we are thrilled!

It’s the first reverse launch system and an omnicoaster that keeps Guests in the action at all times, we believe that this ride will be outstanding.

It is so exciting that Walt Disney World is constantly bringing new rides to the four Theme Parks.

Delicious Dining

Along with new rides are new dining options that we look forward to trying out.

Steakhouse 71 and Space 220 are two dining experiences that we are thrilled to try in 2022.

Steakhouse 71 is in Disney’s Contemporary Resort and replaced The Wave.  We can’t wait to dine at this steakhouse and experience the atmosphere.

Over at EPCOT, Space 220 is an out of this world dining experience where Guests dine high above Earth.

With a prix-fixe menu, we look forward to trying out delicious options as well as experiencing the visuals from space.

Dining is a wonderful part of a Walt Disney World vacation, and we can’t wait to try out some amazing food and drinks!

Meet Mickey Mouse

Although we have been able to see Mickey and friends during our vacations, we haven’t had the opportunity to say hello one-on-one.

During our 2022 vacation, we can’t wait to stop by and visit Mickey Mouse in Magic Kingdom at Town Square Theater.

Even though we can’t hug him, we are excited to chat with him once again.

Full Festivals in EPCOT

It is exciting to have all the EPCOT festivals back for 2022 and in their full glory once again.

We can’t wait to experience all the different outstanding festivals that come to EPCOT throughout the year.

First is the Festival of the Arts, where we can see art in many forms throughout EPCOT.  That is followed by the Flower & Garden Festival, where EPCOT is more beautiful than ever.

The Food & Wine Festival will be back for the fall, and Festival of the Holidays will wrap things up at the end of the year.

EPCOT truly shows its colors during the festivals, and we can’t wait to be there during them once again in 2022.

Return of Entertainment

We are excited for all the entertainment that will be coming back in 2022 to Walt Disney World.

The return of both Festival of Fantasy Parade and Fantasmic has been announced for 2022.  We will be thrilled to see a daytime parade once again in the Magic Kingdom, and to have a nighttime show in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire will be returning to the castle stage in Magic Kingdom as well in 2022, bringing magic and a new 50th Anniversary twist to the show.

Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue & Beyond will be a reimagined show that takes parts of the beloved original musical and creates a new story that will focus on Dory’s adventures.

Entertainment is a big part of what makes Walt Disney World magical, and we are excited to have these pieces back in 2022.

We can’t wait to head to Walt Disney World in 2022, and we hope that this gets you excited for your upcoming trip as well.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
