Walt Disney World is constantly changing, adapting, and adding new and magical experiences. If you plan to head to Florida in 2022 to visit, you don’t want to make these mistakes during your vacation.
Take a look at these mistakes so you will be prepared and ready to avoid them during your time at Walt Disney World.
Paying For Lightning Lane When You Don’t Need To
In October, Walt Disney World rolled out the new Disney Genie. With this came Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. These are both paid options that Guests can choose to add to their vacation, while the basic Disney Genie is free.
By purchasing these features, Guests get access to Lightning Lanes, allowing them to bypass the Standby Line and therefore wait for a shorter amount of time for the attraction.
Be aware that you don’t need to pay for Disney Genie+ for your whole trip ahead of time. Guests can choose to add Disney Genie+ to their Walt Disney World package, or choose to add it on a day by day basis.
Depending on which Park you are headed to, when you are visiting, and your goals for the day, Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes might not be needed.
For many Guests, having Genie+ in both EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom isn’t as beneficial as it is in Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Knowing this ahead of time, Guests might choose to not purchase Disney Genie+ for those two Parks.
Think about what your goals are for each Park, and then look into if Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes are beneficial for you and what rides and attractions you hope to experience.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you have to purchase these services in order to have a magical time.
Not Having a Plan for Airport Transportation
As of January 2022, Disney’s Magical Express will no longer be offered, as this service is being discontinued.
If you are used to using this free transportation service to and from Orlando International Airport and your Walt Disney World Resort, you will want to set up a new plan.
There are a variety of options that Guests can choose from when it comes to getting to their Walt Disney World Resort from the airport, but don’t make the mistake of forgetting to plan ahead or overpaying.
Mears Connect is the new shuttle service, but run the numbers to see if it is the best option for your travel party. (Mears is the company that has been operating Disney’s Magical Express.)
At $32/adult and $27/child round trip, for a larger family, this can really add up. Guests might want to look into renting a car or even a private transportation service. If you rent a car and stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, remember that there will be a Resort parking fee.
Take some time to compare prices between the options to see what would be the best for your family. Don’t make the mistake of overpaying because you forgot to schedule this service ahead of time.
Forgetting to Enjoy the Extra Time in the Parks
If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, don’t forget to take advantage of the added time you get in the Parks.
Early Theme Park Entry allows Guests to get into the four Theme Parks anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes (this has changed during the holiday season, so check what is offered during your vacation) prior to the posted opening.
Don’t forget to take advantage of these early morning hours as it is a fantastic way to ride some of the extremely popular rides with low waits.
Early Theme Park Entry can put you ahead of the crowd all day, giving you a huge advantage when it comes to touring the Parks.
Guests staying at Deluxe Resorts have the opportunity to attend Evening Theme Park Hours on specific dates for EPCOT and Magic Kingdom.
Again, this is a fantastic way to experience low wait times and have a wonderful evening at the Parks.
Don’t make the mistake of missing out on these opportunities!
Forgetting Portable Chargers
We have been bringing portable chargers to Walt Disney World for a few years now, but with the release of Disney Genie, it is even more important to have those phones charged.
Make sure that you have portable chargers and cords for everyone in the family. Chances are that you will be on your phone a lot during your vacation as you check Wait Times, order food, and snag those Lightning Lanes.
The My Disney Experience App has so much to offer Guests to make their vacation smoother, but if your phone is dead, it won’t do you any good.
Not having access to all of this because your phone died can put a big damper on your vacation. Pack those portable chargers so you are never without a charge.
Not Having a Plan for Food
Since opening back up in 2020, Walt Disney World has made some significant changes when it comes to dining.
Don’t head into your vacation without a plan when it comes to food. This is for both sit down meals and quick service meals.
First, if you are booking sit down meals, make sure you double check menus. Many menus have been adjusted since reopening. Some of your favorites might not be on the menu anymore.
Don’t show up and be disappointed, but instead, look at the menus before arriving so you are prepared.
If you don’t want to make reservations ahead of time, plan ahead for Mobile Ordering.
Guests are now asked to place Mobile Orders through the My Disney Experience App in order to get food from most quick service locations.
As there are limited spots available, you will want to plan ahead so you can get your food when everyone is hungry. Waiting until everyone is hungry to place an order can leave you disappointed, as time slots might already be full.
Dining is a big part of a Walt Disney World vacation, so head into it with a plan.
As you prepare for your 2022 Walt Disney World vacation, make sure you avoid making these mistakes.
We hope knowing about them ahead of time will help you have a wonderful and magical vacation.
