We have shared a lot about Walt Disney World’s new planning feature that started in October. Disney Genie is the free planning service that Guests can use within the My Disney Experience app.

Disney Genie helps Guests plan their day by providing suggestions when it comes to rides, entertainment, and dining.

Disney Genie+ is a feature Guests can choose to add to their ticket selection for $15 per person per day. This feature, when purchased, gives Guests access to over 40 Lightning Lanes throughout the four Theme Parks.

By having access to Disney Genie+, Guests can save time in line, allowing for more time to enjoy more of what the Theme Parks have to offer.

The big decision that Guests have to make, however, when it comes to Disney Genie+ is how to prioritize their selections.

To help you get the best use out of Disney Genie+, here are what rides we think you should prioritize at each of the four Theme Parks.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom has the most attractions when it comes to Disney Genie+. With so many rides to choose from, it can be hard to know which rides to prioritize for your selections.

Remember that Space Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train are not included in Genie+. They are the two Individual Lightning Lane selections that Guests can purchase separately.

When looking at which attraction to choose for your Disney Genie+ selections in Magic Kingdom, we have a few suggestions to consider.

First, if Peter Pan’s Flight in Fantasyland is a must do for your family, this can be an extremely important Disney Genie+ to snag early on in the day. Wait times increase throughout the day and often Disney Genie+ selections get pushed to the afternoon and evening quickly.

Another great option for your first Disney Genie+ selection is Jungle Cruise. Ever since the updates to this ride and the release of the movie, we have seen wait times drastically increase.

If you want to catch a ride around the rivers on the Jungle Cruise, we highly recommend trying to snag a Disney Genie+ for it early on in the morning,

After you have experienced Peter Pan’s Flight and Jungle Cruise, Magic Kingdom has a lot of options when it comes to your next Disney Genie+ selections.

Look at classics such as Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, or “it’s a small world”. If you are looking for more of a thrill, think about booking one of the other mountains; Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Magic Kingdom is a fantastic Park to have Disney Genie+ for. There are so many different attractions to choose from, we feel you can really get your money’s worth here.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, there are fewer choices when it comes to Disney Genie+. When we remove the two Individual Lightning Lane attractions from our options (Avatar Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest) there are only a few remaining choices.

The main attractions we feel should be booked using Disney Genie+ would be Kilimanjaro Safaris or Na’vi River Journey. The lines for both of these rides can become extremely long throughout the day making them a good first choice.

We are still learning if having Disney Genie+ at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is essential, or if a good touring plan will be just as productive when it comes to avoiding long lines.

If you already have Disney Genie+, Kilimanjaro Safaris or Na’vi River Journey would be a good place to start when it comes to your choices.

EPCOT

EPCOT has a variety of high thrill rides that can be a great use of Disney Genie+. Currently, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Frozen Ever After are the Individual Lightning Lane choices at EPCOT. We anticipate this will adjust when Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens in summer 2022.

Test Track is our first suggestion when it comes to Disney Genie+ in EPCOT. We know that Test Track is popular, and lines get long during the afternoon. Snag a Disney Genie+ reservation for Test Track early on in the morning to enjoy a lower wait time.

Both Soarin’ and Mission: SPACE are thrill rides that are great choices when it comes to Disney Genie+ at EPCOT. These are popular rides that see longer waits during peak times.

Like Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT doesn’t offer a lot of Disney Genie+ selections compared to Magic Kingdom, but the service is still a great way to save some time in line.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Guests have a variety of choices when it comes to making Disney Genie+ selections.

Rise of the Resistance and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway are the Individual Lightning Lane choices that Guests can purchase in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Looking at all the great rides in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we would suggest focusing on Slinky Dog Dash or Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run as your first choice. As we have learned more about Disney Genie+ and have seen it used throughout the Park, these two rides are seeing their availability quickly run out or pushed into the evening hours.

After you ride these two attractions, Disney Genie+ will be useful for Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Toy Story Mania, and Star Tours.

Following Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios offers a variety of Disney Genie+ selections, making it a great upgrade for those who want to avoid waiting in long lines.

We are continuing to learn about Disney Genie+ and how to best use it in the Theme Parks, and we hope these suggestions will help you as you plan your vacation to Walt Disney World.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
