Magic Kingdom has the most rides of all four Theme Parks making it hard to fit them all in during your Walt Disney World vacation. If you aren’t able to visit Magic Kingdom more than one day, what rides could you leave out of your plans? This is a hard decision as all the rides in Magic Kingdom are there to add magic and fun to a vacation to Walt Disney World.
When looking at what rides could be skipped, we looked at the uniqueness of the ride as well as the overall experience for Guests. We hope this list will help you as you make a touring plan for Magic Kingdom.
Astro Orbiter
The first ride we would suggest leaving off your list would be Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland. The views from the top of Astro Orbiter are amazing especially during fireworks, but that’s where we think the magic ends. In order to ride Astro Orbiter, Guests have to ride in an elevator up to the landing platform which can take a long time.
Once you get to the actual ride, it is a basic spinner ride just like Dumbo making it nothing special. For those that don’t like spinning or aren’t fans of heights, Astro Orbiter is one that they will want to skip out on. As for everyone else, Astro Orbiter isn’t anything super fancy or thrilling so it can be left off your touring plans.
Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Over in Adventureland, Guests will quickly see the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. This ride is just like the OG spinner ride in Disney World, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, found in Magic Kingdom as well as Astro Orbiter.
The carpets do move up and down as well as tilt front and back which kids so enjoy and the spitting camels are also a fun addition. There isn’t anything special about Magic Carpets of Aladdin so if you are trying to narrow down what to ride, we do suggest experiencing Dumbo, the original spinner ride, back in Storybook Circus.
The Barnstormer
The shortest roller coaster in all of Walt Disney World, The Barnstormer is one that we would leave out of our Magic Kingdom touring plans. Located back in Storybook Circus, The Barnstormer lasts under a minute with the majority of that being part of the slow incline.
The ride itself is very tame, making it a good option for little ones that are ready to try out a roller coaster for the first time, but if your traveling party is mostly older kids it doesn’t offer much. Adults will find the seats uncomfortable and difficult to get in and out of which is another reason we would skip this one in Magic Kingdom.
Tomorrowland Speedway
We can imagine that Tomorrowland Speedway was fascinating when it first opened, but now there is a lot about this ride that can be passed over. The fumes, noise, and heat from the track make it not a pleasant experience during the heat of the summer months. If you can already drive, this isn’t really exciting as you can’t go very fast nor very far on the track.
It does provide amazing views of the Tron construction right now which is a lot of fun to see, but beyond that, we don’t find this a ride we have to do in Magic Kingdom. It doesn’t provide the thrill that you can get from Test Track and the elements, along with your kid’s driving skills, can lead to a headache. Send older ones on their own if you want, but otherwise don’t add Tomorrowland Speedway to your touring plans.
Mad Tea Party
Although this is a classic Walt Disney World vacation, we are going to suggest that you leave it off your must-do rides in Magic Kingdom. The main reason that we are suggesting skipping Mad Tea Party is because of the fact that the whole ride is all about spinning in circles.
If you are subject to motion sickness, Mad Tea Party is not the ride for you. Bypass this ride so you don’t feel sick the rest of the day. Mad Tea Party can be a fun attraction if everyone can handle the spinning. If that isn’t the case, leave it off your list for Magic Kingdom.
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
This one is a tough one for us to add to the list as it is classic Disney and has so much history to it, but if you are limited in your time at Magic Kingdom, we are going to suggest skipping over Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. The reason we would suggest skipping this ride is that you can find similar ones in other areas from zoos to local amusement parks, carousels are easy to experience.
If you are looking to maximize your time and experience in Magic Kingdom, we think that there are other more unique ride experiences that should be done instead. Magic Kingdom has so much to offer when it comes to rides and experiences that it is so hard to fit it all in one day. We hope that providing this list of what rides we would leave off our Magic Kingdom plan will help you have a better idea of how you can experience Magic Kingdom in a shorter period of time.
There is so much magic to experience in Magic Kingdom that if you can do it all we highly recommend it, but if not consider skipping over these rides so you have more time for other rides and experiences throughout the Park.
