Photos Reveal Slow Progress of Disney World’s Newest Restaurant

You may remember back in April 2019, Walt Disney World Resort announced it would be welcoming a brand new table-service dining experience called Roundup Rodeo BBQ coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Now, three years later, new photos reveal the slow construction progress of the new restaurant.

With the COVID pandemic hitting in 2020, TRON Lightcylce Run at Magic Kingdom Park isn’t the only experience we’ve been waiting to hear about. Disney has been super quiet about Toy Story Land’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ.

Disney first announced they would be welcoming Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant in Andy’s backyard with:

“Using three cardboard boxes cut and taped together, Andy has created a new rodeo arena using some of his favorite toys, games, and play sets. And while some pieces are definitely western-themed, what makes this rodeo special is the broad assortment of toys that have been brought together to create a fun, colorful mashup-atmosphere that only a child could create.”

“Once inside, you’ll be surrounded by all of the rodeo festivities in-action as well as western town and train station play sets. And you just might spot some of your favorite Disney•Pixar characters scattered throughout the restaurant in the form of toys and game pieces including a toy version of Jessie riding on the back of a Trixie pull-toy and unique toy versions of Bo Peep and her sheep, all who appear to be performing in the rodeo together.

“This immersive restaurant will surround guests with a kaleidoscope of toys, games, and playsets, providing yet another unique, fun, family-friendly dining experience that could only be had in Toy Story Land.”

While the description and art renderings of the new Disney Park restaurant have us excited about what’s to come, the wait has been brutal. Alas, we are seeing construction on the new Disney’s Hollywood Studios restaurant is once again underway.

On August 6, 2022, @bioreconstruct shared an image of the current construction progress on the new Toy Story Lane restaurant, noting, “Aerial look at entrance theming in progress for Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Toy Story Land DHS.”

@bioreconstruct shares three more photos with, “Aerial look at construction of Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Toy Story Land. Project had been on hold due to pandemic. Construction has resumed.”

Below is another angle of the restaurant building, showing the proximity of the new restaurant to the popular Toy Story Land attraction, Slinky Dog Dash:

The building is quite large when you look at it in comparison to the rest of Toy Story Land. You’ll spot it below with the yellow arrow:

Even though Disney has yet to reveal food options that will be available at Roundup Rodeo BBQ, we are assuming Guests will have a chance to order plenty of excellent BBQ selections with “BBQ” in the name!

And while we wish this were a character dining experience to see Disney Pixar Toy Story favorites such as Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Bo Peep, Jessie, and more… the colorful cut-out of characters on the walls look cute in the artistic rendering.

Now, we wait as Disney has yet to reveal an opening timeframe for the new table service restaurant. Disney has, however, recently opened a brand new Toy Story-themed shop called Jessie’s Trading Post at the exit of the Toy Story Mania attraction. A little shopping at Jessie’s and dining at the quick-service restaurant, Woody’s Lunch Box, will have to get us by for now!
